Guest guest
I sent another email regarding this issue but I never received it so I assume no one else did. I apologize if this a duplicate message! My mom called today and said she was telling a neighbor about my nightmare with hives. Her neighbor said she was just listening to a Dr. either on TV or on the radio( she could not remember) , when a caller called in about hives. She said she had had them for 10 years and had just found out it was some disease with a weird name(she could not remember) . It turns out that it was a symptom that laid dormant from having chicken pox when she was a kid. The Dr said it was very rare and treated it and she is "cured". he also said it is very hard to diagnose. Anyone ever here of this. i am sure if anyone else had heard this Dr. you would have posted it. The neighbor felt really bad she didn't pay closer attention. She was going to ask her husband if he had any recollection on it. Also, just to fill everyone in , my Dr just did a colonscopy on me and a small intestine xray in search of a reason for the hives.... anyone else ever have this done. The nurse cracked up that I was there because of hives, she said you must be desperate. I told her I was VERY desperate! Of course the colonscopy was fine, I had the xray of the small intestine today , but I am sure it will come back nothing also. The good news, they have done so many test and I am very healthy except for these crazy hives. Anywaays let me know about this chicken pox thing! Guest guest
The neighbor said it was a really weird name but maybe shingles has a medical name that is weird? I just feel I have to cahse down every lead sometimes...... as we all do!. Barb in Ky

Guest guest
Shingles is medically called herpes zoster or just zoster, which is the virus which causes both it and chickenpox. That's the only medical name I know for them.... An interesting website about zoster: http://www.aad.org/pamphlets/herpesZoster.html Air hugs, Jackie Life is tough, but I'm tougher. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. Guest guest
Barb, my hives came from an allergic reaction to antibodic. I had chicken pox at 40 years old. Got it from my nephews. It was a very mild case. Maybe someday they will just go away. Love Carolyn
