Anyone know of any other options/drugs to rebuild bone??? ********************* Deb, I was put on Fosamax, 40 mg per week. Once-a-week dosing. It was fine for a while, but then I started to experience the burning sensation, similiar to heartburn. I was taken off that, and put on Actonel, 30mg dose, one-time-weekly. It seems to be okay. I will be two years on meds in April. I expect to come off them at that time. I would say get the calcium citrate, and take it. Get it with the magnesium, the D, and get the ipriflavones from soy. Stay away from carbonated beverages, caffiene, and get the exercise the bones need. Others on this list will tell you exactly what soy you need. If you can avoid the Fosamax, do so. But only you and your doc know how seriously you need it. If you can afford to wait a year doing soy and calcium, I would. My opinion only, mind you!
