Guest guest
I had my surgery on 7/18/06. I have lost 69 lbs so far and feel great. I still have good days and bad and although yesterday was a good day the three days previous was a nightmare. I must have ate one little thing that didn't agree with me and I dumped for three days straight. Anyway, I have always lost a lot of hair when I comb my hair or whatever. Baldness runs in my family BAD, even the women, and so I really expected hair loss with this, but thought it would happen around 4-6 months post op. Well, it didn't wait that long, it is really coming out (but my head is still full of hair.....right now anyway)I bought the highest potency of biotin, and am wondering how long it take to see any difference? Hair loss wasn't my concern, but stopping up my drains is. Now don't get me wrong....I don't want to be bald, but I'd rather not be fat. Any help or advice would be great. H. Guest guest
You can try biotin BUT I would not waste your money. I tried biotin, special shampoos and conditioners. None of them worked, I lost about 1/3 of my hair. The good thing................. It does grow back!! I'm 2 years and 2 months out and I have 3in strands all over my head. My hair grows slow. The only thing I can suggest is keep your protein high. Try to get as much in as possible. Hugs!!! > > I had my surgery on 7/18/06. Guest guest
Congratulations on your weight loss! I am 5 months out and I've been on Biotin for about 7 months. I also lost handfuls of hair even before surgery. I have noticed that I'm losing more hair than usual, but I am growing lots of " baby hairs " too. My hair seems much thicker and is definitely growing longer-- which is weird because I'm losing so much of it! My nails are growing quickly and are much stronger than before also! I'm definitely a " biotin " supporter and I'd hate to see what would have happened if I hadn't tried it! Good luck! jenni > > I had my surgery on 7/18/06. Guest guest
I didn't experience hair loss issues or if I did I didn't notice them enough because my hair grows too damned fast anyway. I checked my suppliment and it has 10% of the RDA of Biotin (I take two daily though). That didn't seem like much so I wondered what foods it was in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotin Common sources Liver and kidney Dairy products Some seafood, especially oysters, lobster, and salmon Yeast Cauliflower Chicken breast Egg yolk (but not egg white) I eat lobster (granted it's imitation so not full on lobster), salmon, chicken breast, or dairy products every day so maybe I'm getting enough of the stuff now that I'm 9 months out. I haven't had much liver lately I'll admit. Kidney? hmm. Not sure I've eaten a kidney other than the beans. Good luck with your suppliments/diet.
