Guest guest
Pssst, you forgot to tell them you like cats. I've been following this hot protein thread with great interest, of course. Years ago Next (Designer) was the first mfr to mention not to heat it (although apparently the natural is OK, I add skeptically), and not to make it in advance & let it stand. However, just out of curiosity, I called the 800# 5 times and got 5 answers. So, I left that venue and went straight to the mfr where I am speaking to someone higher up the food chain, so to speak. Universally, they say DO NOT HEAT WHEY. These are people who are in chemical analysis, management. I spoke to the head chemist at Champion (my beloved ProScore 100), and tried to get a " time " at which mixed protein " turns " from protein to bacteria, but was unable to pin him down. LOL! He agrees it does, but not in how many minutes and in fact, thought I was nuts for wanting to know. Previously I had been told we could make it into Popsicles, so to speak, but this guy was not enchanted with that idea at all. Cold, sure, iced, sure, but not protein-sicle. So, this was my most recent discussion, Being of a scientific nature, they really did not care if I ever bought another can or not, so he was not compromising any issues at all. When they toss " sales " out the window, I tend to think they're speaking the truth. In his case, his interest is in protecting the integrity of the product. If the users do not get the desired result (because they are misusing the product), then that is of interest to him. So, since they are shooting toward the body builder/athlete arena, the results are worn on the outside, so to speak. ProScore 100 itself is actually market more to endurance people, runners, bikers, swimmers, bi & tri-athletes. So, if it isn't working for them, they FEEL the difference and very quickly. So, while perhaps you didn't want THIS much info, there it is, and why I always hold the No Hot Protein line so thoroughly. I'm like Chrissie, why take chances? I'm finally legal to post to the group. Before I respond to this post I had better introduce myself. My name is Alice (yes, another one), I have been lurking for around 18 months (about 6 months before I had my RNY). I had a proximal RNY in Fresno, Ca by Dr. Boone exactly one year ago today. I have gone from a BMI of 45 to 28, from a size 24/26 to a 10. What a wonderful year it has been. I was able to stop using insulin in March but still continue with the oral meds for my diabetes and still don't have the blood glucose down to where it should be but I'm working on it. I do work out three times a week at a woman's gym. I hate naked water so flavor mine with tea and I do use protein supps. > Now, onto the response to this particular post. Am I understanding that what the company is saying is that the protein changes form but remains the same amount (gramwise per scoop), we just can't use it? So what good is it if we can't absorb it? Or did I misunderstand? > --- > Alice > The Loon > Dr. Boone > Dec. 28, 2000 > > > On Fri, 28 Dec 2001 17:02:20 > shihtzumom wrote: > .... This does not mean that the amount of the protein is diminished. Denaturation can affect biological value (bioavilability) and may slow the digestion and absorption of the protein. Regardless, denatured protein still retains full nutritional value with regard to amino acid composition.... > > > -- > Click here for your very own create-a-date adventure from MatchMaker > Go to http://ecard.matchmaker.com/dating.html > > > Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG > > Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe > > > > >
