I plan to breast feed, God willing, and am nervous about it. I figured that this would be a good place to become a bit more educated in hopes of being more relaxed about it So.... Guest guest
Welcome! I nursed my oldest for 18 months - and I had planned to bottlefeed - I nursed my second for 6 months - and I had planned to nurse. I'm nursing my 3rd and will continue for a minimum of 2 years. Why the difference? The hospital and the nurses! With my first, I thought babies and bottles go hand in hand. But when my son was 5 minutes old, the nurse (practically without my knowledge...lol) opened my hospital gown and popped him on! I loved it! But with my second the nurses said nothing either way. Never asked, never checked - just " assumed " I knew what I was doing since I had nursed before. My 3rd (Ethan is 2 weeks old now) has a congenital heart defect and I'm going to give him the very best start I can, especially since he needs open heart surgery in a few months. So basically my advice to you would be for you to read all the information you can, know what is in store (good and bad, even if you may not experience it since all babies and moms are unique) and listen to all the heartening, loving, happy stories that you can. It will firm up your resolve to nurse! But you also need to realize something - baby knows to suck, you know where to put him - but that is where the common knowledge ends. The rest is learned by trial and error. But its *all* good! Dawn and clan Ethan Adnan (8-25-00) 5 weeks early, VSD Elijah Iman (14 months) and Ibrahim Jerry (3) ***********My Angels************ Kiara Nichole - born still at 21 weeks - 5-16-96, 22 weeks, gained her wings at 15 hours old 2 m/c angels ********************************** New Here... > > Hi Everyone, > > I hope it's not too early to sign up for this list. What is his defect? My son (7 weeks) has a bicuspid aortic valve with a mild stenosis. At present the stenosis is staying mild, so we are having to take no action...once it progresses, he'll have a catheterization, and eventually valve replacement surgery. It could be months, it could be years, we have a periodic echocardiogram to check on the valve and it's function.....as long as it stays mild we have to take no action. There is only a 20% chance it will stay as it is, and an 80% chance the function of the valve will worsen. It's tough having heart surgery hanging over one's head! Guest guest
Welcome, , This is a great place for information. I started breastfeeding over 2-1/2 years ago and had only a 3 month break between weaning my first and birthing my second child. I really missed nursing during even that short period of time. I find lots of help and support from this group. Hugs, Amy Lynn mother to (1/98) and (2/00)

Guest guest
Hi, I am new here and my name is . I have AS from my uterus rupturing during my delivery of my third child(April 12, 2000). The rupture killed my baby and almost killed me(I was not vbac'ing). I have been having a lot of problems. I saw a specialist today and he has recommended a hysterctomy, he said my uterus is so far gone there is nothing they can do to fix it and I know I can't have anymore babies because I am at a very high risk for another uterine rupture since mine ruptured from top to bottom.
