Guest guest
Friends... Thank you all for your responses to my questions about protein powders and adding them to hot foods! Getting several opinions, I called Optimum Nutrition (www.optimumnutrition.com) and asked about their product, Optimum 100% Whey Protein. I was informed that there is some degridation or reduction in protein content with this specific product, but a percentage or gram number they were not able to give me. HOWEVER, I was also informed that it was simular to the amount of loss even meats have when cooked! As it was explained to me, even meat products loose a percentage of their protein content per gram, when cooked. However if this was significant, as I was told, the FDA would have the producers provide a " raw vs cooked " protein labeling information! So... it appears that, at least with the product I use, heating it in a latte or surgar free hot coco, does not significantly reduce the grams of protein to cause any major worry! Again, thank's all for your input! Jeff White Open RNY, 6/2000, BTC, Belvidere, IL - Dr. Roy Berkowitz Pre-Op - 450.2 Today - 250.
