Guest guest
I have posted a few times as I decided whether to proceed with a helmet or not. We went for it - and were casted this morning and we get our helmet next Tuesday. They are doing a very fast turnaround due to my babe's age - almost 9 months. I am going to Sick Kid's in Toronto. I was very nervous as some of the reviews on this site were less than complementary. I really only have one shot at this deal so I am hoping we made the right decision. I was really impressed with our orthoist - she was very practical and realistic. She indicated given our kiddos shape of head - he has a very broad back of the head - not caused by the flattening, he was born that way such that it makes it diffult to reshape, his age is advanced, the sheer size of his head (47.5 cm at 9 mnths up from 37.5 cm at birth) and one fontenal is now closed. They will only helmet up until 12 months so we only have a 3 month shot at this one. Either way, we have done it. My questions: - any bfders out there, any hints on how to breastfeed with a helment - does it hinder the process? - stickers - I can't find any clear backed stickers (lots of Sandylion which seem to be mentioned) - I assume by clear back you mean transparent or is just not 'paper' stickers - if I did buy 'paper' stickers - can I still use them or will it make a horrific mess? - how well did your babe's adjust to the helmet - our guidance is to ease them into their helmets but given my time limits I am wondering what others experience is/was. I will also discuss with our orthotist next week. Many thanks Ann
