Guest guest
Donna: you might also try going on digest mode; that way, you can skim quickly through each digest (usually one every other day or so) and pick out what interests you. There are a number of lists available; each has a slightly different focus. This one is chattier than some, but nothing is forcing us to be here. I also am quite new, here and to diabetes; I take what I can use, very occasionally can contribute something, and leave the rest. People need to build community; and not everyone uses the same methods. Try alldiabeticinternational for a more efficient list, lots of info but somewhat fewer fuzzies. Or Diabetes_Type2 for one that is sort of in between (assuming you have Type 2, which your post didn't mention.) There's also a Healthy Recipes for Diabetes list at Yahoogroups that I have joined but have set for no mail, and then I can skim the posts on line when I want to, which is another way to cut down on the in-box stuffing. Or start your own list--there's always room for more, and people will undoubtedly join. That would probably work better than leaping onto an existing list and then complaining because it isn't what you needed. And finally, may I suggest that if you have specific questions or problems, you do post them. People will answer, and because this is a " fuzzier " list, you may get encouragement even from folks who don't have the answer, or the answer you need; and this can also be VERY helpful, especially early on when everything seems so new and overwhelming. You will find your way. There's help everywhere; just take what you can use and don't worry about the rest. If you are newly diagnosed, or even if you've been at this awhile, may I suggest Gretchen Becker's Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year (again, assuming you are Type 2.) I got this book from the library the day I was diagnosed and found it so helpful I went out and got my own copy. >Message: 4 > Date: Sun, 19 Feb 2006 09:51:45 -0800 (PST) > >Subject: Re: Re: Fw: An American: OT > >I am new to this board... among my first commuications 10 or so... there were 6 or so Happy birthday wishes to someone I do not know... three Diabetes Health related issues..... and a piece of Forwarded Email Junk that winds its way around on the net every six months or so. > > Did you all get the one about Microwaving in plastic causing cancer, Or the chocolate chip cookie recipe costing 250.00 being sent around free.... they are all nusances....
