So this means, it would be safe to prefill like one syringe with Lantus..

in the amount you would need, and then fill another with Novolog in the

usual amount you would need without risking breaking your needles, etc?

What is the best way to store them?

This is all NEW to me in this concept, but might be helpful information for

me as I work a lot of different hrs. at times, or busy, so anything like

this, could be an advantage to me.

If you aren't taking insulin and are severely cutting carbs and increasing

exercise to keep you blood sugars low the body uses fats as energy and which

causes really bad things to happen with your body.

As far as doctors telling you these things... unless you ask, how would they

know you might ever have the need to know? If you don't have an Rx,

99.9%of the insurance companies won't reimburse you for it anyway.

Not to

mention if you have your Rx filled at companies like Walgreens, you can go

to any Walgreens nationwide and get a refill. (This is why many insurance

companies won't authorize early refills for vacations.)

As for prefilled syringes. You have used alcohol to disinfect the bottle

and unless you have touched the needle elsewhere or stuck something in the

cap, it is still sterile. You know, you inject air into the vial before you

draw your insulin, and that isn't sterile either, but is fine as long as the

insulin is used within 28-30 days.

From what I've been told, you can't prefill syringes with insulins that are

in suspension (any of the cloudy ones)... the needle could get plugged (from

what I've been told).
