To both Vick and Roxie,

good luck on May 22. I can't wait to hear about the results of both of your surgeries and also about these new glorious long awaited scopes.

Good luck,

Poly

Vicki & Roxie,

I am so glad to hear that this has finally happened, and I will be

thinking of you both on Thursday and hope all goes well.

I am a relative newcomer here and was wondering what is special about

this scope that made it such a long wait?

I hope everything goes well for both of you!

Terry M,

Thanks for your well wishes. Dr. Olive just moved to the University

of WI from CA in July of last year. He is the director of

Reproductive Endocrinology and has been trying to make improvements

with the department. One of those improvements has been to add a

hysteroscope that he can do in office since he said the ones they had

there were outdated and he wasn't touching them. He also mentioned

that he has consulted with Dr. V from Australia and he wants to start

doing a procedure that would be combining an office hysteroscopy and a

HSG. He mentioned that he will be able to inject dye to see if there

are any pockets and also it could help to find the opening to blocked

tubes. He thought that this procedure would also aid in determining

where the scar tissue ends and the good begins and will help prevent

punctures. He had planned to have it ready some time ago but there

was some delay in getting all of the parts and I think he was getting

as frustrated as we were over the waiting. I am excited to know where

things are with me-good or bad. I had an u/s but because of my tilted

uterus, he was able to see very little and he also said that when the

scarring is as extensive as mine was, he likes to get a look with the

scope versus the HSG. Thanks again for your thoughts!

Roxie,

Thanks so much for the explanation. It sounds like Dr. Olive is doing

great work and the idea of a combo HSG/hysteroscopy sounds

interesting.

You mentioned that the other hysteroscopes in his office (that he

wouldn't use) were outdated. Do you know how they have been improved?

Are they smaller now? Just curious to find out what constitutes a

good, up-to-date hysteroscope.

Thanks!

Terry M.
