Guest guest
I should probably clarify. Sugar was not even on my radar screen pre-op. It's on there now. Every now & then, demands my attention, even if just to watch me wiggle & squirm & escape. Pre-op, it was the other carbs, which are rendered nearly harmless by RNY. Of course, since I CAN, those aren't nearly as interesting to me now. Thanks, www.vitalady.com For info on PayPal, click this link: https://secure.paypal.com/affil/pal=vitalady%40bigfoot.com post-op Sugar cravings > Interesting you should say that. I too, really had no interest in sugar, ie cookies, candy, cakes, etc before surgery. Now, 16 months postop, I find myself craving sugar. Why? Ok, might be the protein needs. I am trying to get my protein levels up. Maybe some other reason? I don't like the cravings. I liked not having that stuff call to me like it is now. > > Chrissie > ----- Original Message ----- From: @vitalady ...snip... Guest guest
Some of the complex carbs, taken in reasonable amounts. The duodenum is required for them to break down into the sugars, as they are famous to do. And with RNY, the duodenum is asleep at the switch, so to speak. It's not like you can get nekkid and run through NOTHING but piles of pasta, rice, taters, breads........ No, but you can have reasonable portions of them now & then and not be scared into next week. Now, sugar is NEVER harmless, never. It's addictive, it's purpose is to put fatty tissue on you and it is merciless once it has you in its grip. Ask any of us who've been owned & ruined or nearly so by this nasty stuff.
