Hi all! I don't know if any of you will remember me as I post infrequently but I

recently got some really fabulous news and I would like to share it with you by

way of encouragement. I was diagnosed Type 11 approximately 2 years ago. No big

deal. Took a couple of pills each day and forgot about it. Then the mother of

all stressful times hit. My diabetes caused everything else to go haywire. Blood

pressure up, cholesterol out of site, kidney disease, depression, sleep

apnea.... you name it, I had it. Off work 4 months on stress leave and on and on

it went. Last year I had a weight loss implant done and though I was then losing

weight, sugars were going higher and higher. Finally on Thanksgiving day the

straw that broke the camel's back. I had a stroke. Thank God there were no

lasting effects but it was a very frightening time and 18 hours of my life lost

that I can never regain. I finally decided that it was time I took control of my

life again instead of waiting for " things to just

get better. " After some painful decisions and difficult times, I was able to

stand up for me and make some significant changes in my life. End result? Was at

my Dr's yesterday and for the first time in years my A1C is a 6.3 as opposed to

the usual 5 or above!! Blood pressure is 101/72 (wasn't sure that I could even

be alive *SMILE*) Good cholesterol is 52 and bad cholesterol is oly elevated a

small bit!!! Even greater news is that the kidney disease has reversed itself! I

am on my way to health again!!! Woo Hoo!!!! I am now 48 lbs down with only 30

more to go and am confident that I will soon be the physical me that God

intended me to be in the first place.

In a nutshell, that has been a 2 year journey, one in which I easily could

have died and was mortally afraid that was going to happen. The moral of the

story is to Take Care of Yourself. Not just physically but emotionally and

spiritually. Do not let others be responsible for you health and situations.

Take responsibility for what is yours alone, take charge of your life and watch

it change. By the way, it will help you sleep better at night too! *SMILE*

Anyway, sorry for the long post but just had to share my joy. Thank you for

reading and good luck to you all!
