Guest guest
Since this topic came up, can anyone give me a list of things that can be claimed as medical expenses on our taxes? This is our first year with all of this so I don't think we'll meet the minimum required but I want to keep track of everything for next year. So far, I know we can claim health insurance premiums, copays and other payments to doctors, hospitals, and labs, prescription copays, cost of medical equipment, and glasses. What about books on diabetes? What else might there be, related to diabetes or just for the rest of family? Thanks, Barbie

Guest guest
I do know that our insurance premiums come out of hubbies check before taxes, and it is printed that way on his W2 Angelia in OR Tax Deductions > > Since this topic came up, can anyone give me a list of things that can be > claimed as medical expenses on our taxes? Guest guest
Yes, most companies withhold on a pre-tax basis. It's to your benefit. So, be certain that your employer doesn't already withold premiums on a pre-tax basis. That means that premiums paid are not included in your income on your W-2. You can ask your payroll department if you're not sure. One way to tell is that your wages and your medicare wages are different (usually by the amount of your 401k and your pre-tax medical deductions) > > I do know that our insurance premiums come out of hubbies check before > taxes, and it is printed that way on his W2 > > Angelia in OR > Tax Deductions > > > > Since this topic came up, can anyone give me a list of things that can be > > claimed as medical expenses on our taxes? Guest guest
I've used both H & R Tax Cut and the Inuit Turbo Tax. Of the two I prefer the Turbo Tax. I found it slightly easier to use, but that's subjective. They both do an excellent job Re: RE: Tax Deductions Did you find H & R Tax Cut easy to use? Guest guest
Yes. I have used it for 4 years, no problems. I tried Turbo Tax once and didn't like it. I used Tax Cut just because it was H & R block. We had some complicated things too. If you have deductions you can even use their Deduction Pro which is easy to use as well. If you have lots of deductions you can always buy Deduction Pro online from Tax Cut website. It's really a great way for figuring value of items that you donated to local charities. You check off what the item is and it's condition and it automatically tells you what you are allowed and keeps track of it. When you fill all of it out you can transport it to Tax Cut and they figure everything out. You can even print the whole thing out and review all of it first before you do anything with it. I like efiling it as well. The reason I switched was because H & R block was doing our taxes and for the first time I was the one who took them in rather than my husband. I suddenly realized that all they did was enter numbers I told them while I sat in a chair. I realized they were using the same software I could buy. I began to think what???? I am paying you $300 for me to tell you what to enter in the blank????? huh???? so I went out and found their tax software and decided I could read the questions just as easily as them and type them in myself. The software does all the figuring and work. I don't have to know what goes where just answer the questions as they come up. There are even different forms available. It's not like it only does one thing. It does pretty much whatever an H & R Block office would do. Then of course after you finish you need to make a printed copy for yourself and store the other on a cd rather than on the computer just in case anyone gets your info. At least that's what I do just to be safe. I also save copies of any emails back and forth saying the IRS received my tax return. Hope you like it as much as I do. Good luck. >Did you find H & R Tax Cut easy to use? I paid a small fortune last year, taxes had some complications.
