It does not raise BG levels. It is a natural sweetener. All of the other ARTIFICIAL sweetener make me un-easy. They are totally un-natural and in some cases dangerous in my opinion. Did you know that Nutrisweet (aspartame) turns into Formaldehyde in your body. Isn't that embalming fluid? (J) This was more than a grain of truth...it was the whole story. ;o) Some urban legends have reach the status of folklore The Vanishing Hitchhiker is a good example of this. I first time I heard it was when I was 10 and the one telling the story claim it happen our town. (J) The " story " I wrote to them about did in fact happen right in Syracuse and the surrounding area...no claims, but lots of media coverage, an arrest and trial, etc. There was no extra hype in the " legend " ...it was pretty much what was written in the papers and heard in the courtroom. Nothing dramatized to make it more interesting or scary or anything. Just the truth, which snopes tried to claim wasn't true...lol. Guess the guy went through a trial and went to prison for nothing...poor guy. All because someone thought this crazy idea up...but it didn't really happen. *Sigh of relief* I guess that'll be a comfort to his victims...it's all a bad dream....someone just made it up. ;o) Thanks, but no thanks! I know 2 of the gals that were involved and I know it was NOT made up. It happened and *gasp* snopes didn't get it right. All I was saying is that no matter what the source, you can't believe everything you read. Emails, websites, Snopes, yes...even the papers. However, I could believe the papers in this one instance because I followed the trial and was a shoulder to cry on for 2 very good friends who were victimized by the moron who this " urban legend " was about.
