Guest guest
Audrey, I think I've experienced what you're talking about. Here's why. I'm about 294 according to my parent's scale. They have a heavy duty scale that I can weigh myself on. Well, I guess I could weigh myself on a standard scale but that would involve me having to pay for and then actually use it at my house. I guess I don't see the need. Anyway, that thing has been about 2-7lbs high depending on which way the wind blows so maybe I'm about 290lbs now. As you may have been reading I'm about a 42 " waist and an XL t-shirt now. If I think back to when I was that size before it was probably in the early 90s when I was getting a 4hr work out every night loading trucks for UPS. I ate crap but didn't gain weight really. I think I was about 240-260lbs. No way was I anywhere near 290lbs. Maybe 30lbs doesn't make that much difference but heck that's damn over 10% of my current weight. You'd think I'd be at least a 2XL shirt. For that matter I know other guys here at work who wear 2XL and I'm CERTAIN they don't weight 290lbs but more like, as expected, 250 or so. So what the frick is going on here? Someone in the group here told me and I think I've heard it from my surgeon/others that our bones become more dense and heavier over the years that we've got to cart around the extra weight. Let's see, I've been over 300 for a good decade and over 400 for maybe half of that. No doubt I'm a candidate for this effect. Couple that with the fact that I'm working out every weekday with weights and cardio and you've got to add the muscle weight to the mix too. It sounds to me like there's a good possibility that I'll get down to something in the neighborhood of 250lbs but I'll look and wear clothing like I'm 220 or so. I might even FEEL like I'm 220. Hell I'll take that. I've always held weight better than others anyway. Nobody has been very good at guessing my weight. I've done pretty well at the carnivals against the weight guessers. I'm not one to get hung up on the number stuff. If I have good blood work, can fit into clothing and a plane seat, and I feel healthy then screw the numbers. I'll let other people worry about my weight number. There's supposed to be a lot of hormones released that sorta mess up some/most folks after wls surgery. I've not read anything technical on this but I'm buying the information for the most part. I was (maybe still am I guess) slightly bi-polar. I'm no longer taking any bi-polar medication. Am I still bi-polar? Should I be medicated? Maybe. That's all psychiatrist stuff that I'm not qualified to determine. My shrink said it's cool so long as I don't get freaked out at little things, don't have my signature " racing thoughts " to a greater extent, etc. So far everything's been real cool. At least I think it has. I hate this sort of stuff. What exactly were you crying about with regards to the holidays or was it just the holidays in general? The weather in Michigan usually sucks around the holidays. I'm the one that should be crying not you sister. You might not get enough protein in every day. It's not the end of the world. Just keep trying. You only fail when you stop trying. MMMM sausage. I haven't had that for some time. Maybe I'll get some turkey sausage some time again. Good stuff Maynard! Turkey burgers are tasty too. My son loves it when I make those. I've never used protein powder but some have posted here about ones that have no flavor and can be used in almost anything I think. Email is free. Long posts are too. Thank goodness considering the novels I write eh? Hmm, PA weather can suck in the winter too right? You folks get a lot of freezing rain and sudden blizzards. Guest guest
Yes we do get bad weather, This will be my second winter here.. .So I have not seen how bad it can just yet. Not since I was a teen anyways. I want a treadmill really bad for this reason. Mike wrote: Audrey, I think I've experienced what you're talking about. Here's why. Guest guest
I use whey protein powder in my oatmeal and other things. It's wonderful! in CA. @..@ (----) ( )--( ) o0..0o No trees were destroyed to send this e-mail. Guest guest
Uh I just take a tube of turkey burger, spice it up with some canadian steak seasoning and other spices then cook them in the Foreman grill. Not much to it. I fought the urge to buy another kettle fried turkey from Costco today. I did buy some MASSIVE bags of soy chips though. 18.5oz of white cheddar soy chips for $6. Meijer sells 3.5oz for $3 so I'm getting quite the deal. My kids love to snack on them. Except my son likes the ranch flavor which comes in a 22oz bag for $7. Still a great deal. My daughter tried some canned salmon on a cracker and tolerated/ate it. Now this is big because she hates fish and salmon is so good for you. They didn't have smoked salmon which she claims to love. Is there a way to cook up canned salmon with some smoke flavoring or something to make it taste like smoked salmon on crackers or something?
Guest guest
There is smoke flavoring you can buy called Liquid Smoke, I used to use it all the time. Works great! You should find that in the steak sauce Isle Or seasoning not sure.
