Does your pain change with time of day?

Doing a search on PubMed for melatonin, I came across an abstract for

an study that says pain associated with inflammation may change with

time of day. This is because when blood levels of cortisol rise and

fall it changes the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (cytokines

IFN-gamma, TNF-alpha, IL-1 and IL-12). The abstract suggests that

" immuno-inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis or asthma

exhibit night-time or early morning exacerbations " because cortisol

(and perhaps other chemicals such as melatonin) are lowest then.

So I'm wondering of those of you who suffer from arthritis-like pain

see a difference in pain levels at different times of day?

My pain reaches the unbearable point right around 2:00 pm, although I

suffer from pain all morning as well....just not quite as severe. I lay

down for a few hours to feel better and get supper ready. Around the

time I sit down to eat, I'm in tremendous pain again (probably from

being up and getting supper ready). The pain lasts until bed.
