I got my packet from kaiser!

Hi,

I got a packet of papers from Kaiser today, I am not sure if

I qualify though, it says BMI of 40+ and 2 major health probs or BMI of 50.

I weigh 255, and if I was 230 I wouldn't qualify. They want you to loose 10%

of your body weight, and if I do that I won't qualify. Pre diabetes and

hypertension weren't on the list, but SEVERE HYPERTENSION was. Poly cystic

ovarian

syndrome was on the list, along with joint degeneration. I do have a joint

disease, but not degeneration, I have chronic joint pain..

Another question is....... it says absolutley NO crunchy

snacks, sugar, caffeine, motrin, tylenol, citrus fruits and carbonation for THE REST

OF YOUR

LIFE.... is that true? if so I can't have this surgery because of my chronic

joint

pain, what happens if you get the cramps????

Kaiser's plan is called OPTIONS. You have to go through 24 weeks of group

classes, and go on a diet, with aerobic excersise 4 times a week, and I think I

should start gaining weight so I can loose 10% and not disqualify. This isn't

sounding too good now though, about the food thing.. seems like you have to

give up EVERYTHING . My paper says that 15% don't loose any weight, and over

1/2 of all people never attain a non obese weight. Also, the only procedure

they do is the RYDGB. It says there is a higher risk of bowel obstruction. I

have IBS and that's the LAST thing I want.

please help I need answers!

Dawnyel,

I know somebody who thought the same thing, about losing weight and then

not qualifying.....It didn't happen to her, they went by the weight at the

start of the program.....

Your Kaiser sounds a bit different than mine in San

Francisco........There are things you can take for cramps that don't have

Tylenol in them, aren't there??? (ladies help me out here)

They are going to tell you a bunch of things you can never have again.

And yes for me coffee was one of them, and this morning I had two cups. And

Im still breathing.........I also have had some crackers and chips and nuts

and sunflower seeds and god knows what else they told me I could never have

again. We are human and I think to expect that we will go through the rest

of our life and never have a potato chip again is just crazy! Im not telling

you to not follow the rules, I didn't touch anything like that for months,

Im only saying don't freak out over all of this........Take it all in and

think long and hard about what you want to do......

Dawnyel,

You never answered my question on if you had your orientation yet?? I

would suggest you don't lose anymore weight until you have your first class.

Go get a couple of Mike's triple whoppers while your at it!

I know we just met, so you might not catch my sense of humor,

sorry........but really don't try to lose anymore until your class........

It's fine with me, I take it as a compliment

Wow this has to be one of the most profound and accurate statements,

at least as it applies to how I feel about the whole wls journey,

that I've ever read. You all know I write freaking books here but

this was so short and to the point! " both the easiest and the hardest

thing I have ever done in my life " . If it's okay with you I'm going

to adopt this in my vocabulary and use this when I talk to others

about my surgery. That's really an awesome way to describe how I feel

in a nutshell.

I agree with the rest of your post too.
