Guest guest
Well shoot guess it would have helped a bit ago if i hadnt sent the dadgum mail before I got finished! Anywayzzzzzz I just wanted to know exactly what is this shredded turkey. Besides sandwich type turkey we have ground turkey but I have never heard of shredded turkey. Is it raw or smoked or what? What is the brand name and where do you find it? Thanks WOLFIE
Guest guest
Ok, I am not sure if they are talking about a specific type of shredded turkey, but our grocery store carries " ground " turkey in the meat section. So that you can use it like you would use ground meat I am not the biggest Turkey fan, but since surgery and moving to solid foods I have turned into a sort of fan...I have turkey german sausage, turkey hotdogs, turkey bacon, and turkey manwhiches (with only one piece of bread) On My Way- Felicia (Flea) Starting 274 Current 236 (-38 lbs) Surgery Date 5-6-03 http://www.inthemoments.com

Guest guest
Hi Wolfie It is like shredded BBQ beef but turkey instead. It goes under the name of Jennie-O, The Turkey Store and you can find it at most local chain grocerie stores. It is very high in protein and very low in carbs (even with the BBQ sauce) and tastes wonderful. Guest guest
I'm the one that threw the BBQ Shredded Turkey out as a good protein source and tastes awesome. I have been eating it since I was about 2 weeks out. It was the best find I have had since surgery. It freezes just great and also keeps in the fridge for quite a while. At first I was only eating 1/4 cup meals so it took a very long time to use it up totally, but it was fine. Guest guest
I usually decide I want it at the last minute so I just throw the tray with the turkey still in the sealed pouch into the micro and nuke it. I can't remember if I used defrost or just went to heating right away. I would turn it over about 1/2 way through. Once it is pliable enough then I remove it from the pouch and put it in the tray to heat it the rest of the way. I then reheat it, a meal at a time, with a slice of reduced fat cheese on it. I thought it was pretty awesome also. I haven't tried the turkey kielbasa but I do buy turkey sausage by Hillshire Farms I think. I slice it and put it on the Foreman grille to heat and eat with salsa. That's pretty darn good also. I always removed the skin after heating for the first 4 months. Now I do okay with the little bit of skin. Good Eating!!!
