Guest guest
thanks so much for the info.. I had heard this was true from one other mom but I had not had others tell me that until now.. gives me courage to ahng in there. our cranial facial surgeon basically told us that banding was all that could be done and we would have to live with the results achieved thereby.. hard to hear when you think of the rest of your little one's life! Anyways, I will continue to follow group and I appreciate the help. dd age 8 months, in DOC #2 > > > > Hi. New to group. My 8 month daughter is in her second DOC for > > tort/plagio. Guest guest
Hi Tamil, Welcome to the group. I'm not really sure how much asymmetry if any can be corrected through repo. I do know that my baby's asymmetries were corrected when she graduated from her DOCband. > > Hi > My 3 1/2 month daughter she have plagio.now iam trying > to repo.eye and ears were showing mild/moderate > asymmetry.it is corrected for repo technique have you > experienced? > please tell.I am getting nervous and crying.help > thanks > > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
We had been told that facial and ear assymetries can also be caused by torticollis. Does your child have tort? Guest guest
Hi , I was wondering if your child needed a second banding also or did the facial asymmetry improve with one band? > > > > Hi. Guest guest
Donna, We did stretches for both girls. They both had tort and facial asymmetry. Guest guest
Dear Laurie - I just visited our new pediatric physical therapist and facial asymmetry - at least as explained to me - is when the eyes are slightly off and our daughter's right cheek protrudes a bit - you can see it much much more in a mirror. I was told that it is caused by torticollis - our 5.5 mo old is now in pt for this condition and will also be banded asap. PS - this is so new to us - it is so scary - we all need to be diligent and spread the word to all parents to rotate heads.
Guest guest
My dd also has facial asym. Her face has an almost cresent shape that curves around her tort side. If that makes sense. I have yet to be told that it is related to tort or plagio - but I know others have been. I was hoping the bands would fix it but they did not. They helped her forehead and ears but not the cresent. I will say it has not gotten worse and I'm not sure if it has gotten better. I don't notice it as much but isee her all the time so I may just be used to it. I have noticed that it is sooooo common among other tort/plagio babies - I thought Luli was the only one but as I see more and more babies here its common. I have not seen too many older kids pics who looked like my dd when they were little so I'm not sure about the prognosis. Sorry. But I did want you to know you are not alone! :-D Jen and Luli - 18 mo. I was told by my physical therapist that despite banding and therapy, he will likely continue to have some facial asymmetry. Right now, one eye is a little larger and the cheek bone looks higher. I was pretty disappointed about this. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Kellie, Mom of Kaden, 7 months, Starband on 6/13/07 AOL now offers free email to everyone.
