Type 1 later in life

I'm a newer member that is impressed with this group and want to thank

those that have helped me so far - I hope to do the same for others in

the future.

I'm a Type 1, diagnosed at 46 yrs old. My blood work from 10 months ago

showed no indication of diabetes. I now have an A1c of 12.7, a C-

Peptide of .7, and fasting BG was 200 to 300 before going on insulin 3

weeks ago.

So my question to the group is this: Where can I find further info on

my brand of diabetes? I've hit the bookstores and read a couple so far,

and search the Internet daily. So far I've found mostly lay person

info, and most does not cover specifics for Type 1 when contracted

later in life. I understand this to be LADA, or perhaps idiopathic

diabetes. Can anyone point me to more resources that could further

inform and educate me in specifics to my brand of diabetes?

Thanks,

Joe

your late onset of type one diabetes may be related to chemical poisoning of

some kind, Joe. Have you looked into that? There are many things that will

cause death of beta cells, including a lot in the foods we eat, sometimes in

workplace situations if working with chemicals etc.

For example, alloxen used in bleaching white bread is also one of the chemicals

used to make lab rats diabetic, and within a short time frame. these are the

rats that are used in studies of diabetes. If you are susceptible genetically,

this or something like it might play a role. So will heavy metal exposure, as

arsenic which can be found in high levels in some areas in drinking water etc.

and is being put in chicken feed now, so that the chickens we eat have a higher

content of arsenic in them.......

I also just want to add that if you think it might be in the food you are

eating you may also want to think about the things your using to clean

yourself and your home. Bleach for instance is one of the most dangerous

chemicals in your home. Not only for cleaning but the bottle actually

produces an " outgas " , meaning that the smell actually seeps out of the

bottle and you breathe it in. This is especially dangerous for those of us

with asthma. Just think about the smell the cleaning isle at your locals

store has...it doesn't stop once it leaves the store!
