Check out the Body Ecology Diet info on coconut kefir. I'm wondering if, in

this case, kefir and yogurt are pretty much the same thing - just a

different name being used?

the bed diet is a bit nutty

that is it's done by nuts who can't seem to understand the difference

between something working and something not working

a year or so ago when it was all the rage i looked through their

message board, you just get a feeling for the basic stupidity of

people who blindly follow something without asking wether its working

if kefir and yougurt are the same thing with a different name then so

is scd and bed

kefir is a relatively uncontrolled bacteria and yeast culture and

yougurt is a relatively controlled bacteria culture and a lot of what

scd is about is death to yeast and bed is pro yeast with its

extensive use of bacteria and yeast fermentation

but 'bed' is more 'party' so ..........................

a very simple rule for posting is to undertand that unless you have

tried something in some depth you are likely to be off the mark and

temper advice with a realistic sense of uncertianty

I merely offered a link, and asked a question. Your answer, however,

included disparaging comments and put-downs. This doesn't help anyone, and

degrades the environment of this list for all. You give some valuable

information, but please try to be considerate in your comments.

i can't be bad enough and put down enough deliberate harmful

misinformation about diets like bed and gfcf and the people who sell

them

its a rough savage world and you don't get by by being totally nice

and you have not been nice but have put me down in a savage but

sophisticated way

the bed diet and coconut kefir are toxic and people who support or

promote it are bad or misguided and its foundation being based in

yeast promoting fermentations is totally opposite to scd so where are

you coming from claiming i am degrading this posting enviroment

you are a relative newcomer and post in an intrusive way like that

like andrew is so worthless but some information is good but discard

the rest

all you have to do is click on my name and follow the link through to

my web site

or read back on previous posts

like i have to do all the work for you?

you may have well had enough but life is not easy and others to have

had a tough road

really tough, there was a pic on the bbc website of a mother with a

starving baby in niger (i think), thats happening at the moment

and you are selling charity as well

real charity you walk over and grind your heel in............

i have been around long enough to see all the loops

the real freedom is learning to think for yourself and develop an

intelligent discrimination in sorting out information and testing it

and you won't need to know backgorund or people but are able to tell

from what is written what the quality is.

the other thing is to watch that since the posters on this baord are

predominantly female is that you don't get to female in the way you

judge things

the mindsets are very different and to set in on this like the only

male on the board who posts regularly makes it very easy to see why

men don't post here

do you want this?

what do your children need?

you have never done any practical charity cause otherwise you would

more realistic about it

i don't mean giving a few dollars to collectors but physically

helping people in need

> ,

> I am fairly new here, too, and no doubt it is my loss, but I know

virtually nothing about you. Unfortunately, like many parents of

kids on the spectrum, I have become more cynical, suspicious &

defensive in many ways during this journey. I've had enough of

scientific and medical paternalism to last me several lifetimes. So

the first questions that always pop into my mind anymore are who is

this person & what is their background?

>

> How can you know the intentions of Marilyn - her being a relative

newcomer as you say? I'm sorry, but her post came across as politely

restrained while yours came across with an attitude of " how dare you

question me? " and judging her harshly - which she did not do to

you. Which brings us back to " who are you and what is your

background " ?

>

> I agree that the world is becoming an increasingly barbaric place,

but if I came across a man beaten and left for dead on the roadside,

I would not offer him a swift kick of my own and move on. Let those

who are content to live like animals descend on their own while we

take the higher road. Every act of charity leads this world a little

bit closer to healing.

Marilyn,

If you go to the " breaking the vicious cycle " web site, they have a ton of

info on legals/illegals, etc. She also talks about kefir, and why it's not

scd compatible.

try this link (hope it works)

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/kefir.htm

I checked into kefir a while back, when people where having supposedly good

results from it, but after looking more into it and reading this, decided to

try it " by the book " . Those good comments about kefir have died down, btw.

Well, getting back to the original question...I have done this. I just

started out on SCD, but we've used coconut products heavily for some

time now. It was really interesting making coconut milk yogurt because

when they make coconut oil the old-fashioned way, they ferment it and

the oil rises to the top. Well, that's what happens with the yogurt,

since it's a ferment, too. So, while the coconut milk yogurt tastes

incredibly good, the texture is nothing like real yogurt. The milk

separates into 3 parts, which seem to stay separated even after

refrigeration, with the oil part becoming quite solid. I haven't tried

blending it up to see if it would remake it into a nicer consistency

yet, but we don't mind the odd texture around here. :-)

BTW, you pretty much have to make your own milk from scratch to avoid

gums and such. The pecanbread site has a simple way to do this. I did

it with a whole coconut, but it's a fair amount of work.

Would anybody kind enough post the coconut milk yogurt recipe?

Also can you make coconut milk for the yogurt from coconut flakes

mixed or boiled in water? Commercial coconut cream? (I just posted

about it in a separately)...
