Guest guest
Contact Early Start/ Early Intervention in your state. They will do a free evaluation of Noah for development - and if there is a delay they will do therapy for free. Luli isn't behind (infact she;s jumped ahead in the past few weeks) But based on her Tort a therapist comes to my home 1x a month just to keep tabs on her development so that IF she fell behind they would be on top of it. Guest guest
Our physical therapist just did a written evaluation of Tiernan and it says "Tiernan is at risk for gross motor delays secondary to torticollis." It doesn't say anything about plagio being a problem. However, if you go to the aap website, there is an article "Long-Term Developmental Outcomes in Patients with Deformational Plagiocephaly." It states some possible issues that COULD arise. If you really don't want to know, I wouldn't read the article, b/c I ended up feeling worried afterwards. Especially when I compared it against Tiernan's eval. My husband says sometimes being overinformed is as bad as not being informed enough. That could be true! We have had him screened, and we are haveing another eveluation done. Can plagio have effects on a child's developement? I have asked all my doctors and they said that Noah is developing fine. But that still doesn't keep me from worrying. Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min. Guest guest
We did ECI and it works well but if there is delay its better to do aggressive therapy or it was in our case. We did ECI once a week for 3 months and saw little change. Then we started seeing a private Ped Therapy and now we go 3 pt, 2 ot and 2 speech and its a hugh difference. She is doing a millions better. But ECI is better than nothing and your right they will do a free eval and even do PT once a week. JenandLuli@... wrote: Contact Early Start/ Early Intervention in your state. Guest guest
My son has Plagio and Tort and was behind in gross motor skill development. We began Physical Therapy (through Children's Healthcare of Atlanat) 1x a week about on month ago and he has made tremendous progress. Before therapy, he hated tummy time, could not push himself up onto all fours, could not crawl, could not cruise. His unresolved torticollis made him favor his right side so much, that his left side became weaker and less flexible. However, he now has run of the house, crawling from one room to another, pulling up on furniture, cruising, bending down to pick things up, sitting from standing, and trying to climb up stairs.... Can you tell I am very positive about physical therapy? We are having our son evaluated by Georgia's Early Intervention program to determine if he qualifies for home visits from a Physical Therapist. Good luck.JenandLuli@... wrote: Contact Early Start/ Early Intervention in your state.
