Guest guest
Has anyone had people tell them they are too skinny? I am 10 months out and have lost 160 lbs so far. I am 5'8 " and weigh 136 now. A few people have said I am too skinny but I don't think so. When you had been overweight your whole life that is the last thing you think you'll hear. I just think they are jealous. Please share any experience you may have and what do you say to people. Thanks, M
Guest guest
Your BMI is about 20.7. That's considered normal. I don't put much stock in BMI myself because it doesn't take into account a lot of factors but then mine is still 40 (down from about 64.5). I also don't believe that people think you had implants. I'd have to see pictures. Please? WOO HOO!! Mike in GR > > Has anyone had people tell them they are too skinny? I am 10 months out and have lost 160 lbs so far. I am 5'8 " and weigh 136 now. Guest guest
, It sounds like your weight is fine. Don't let people bug you about it, just tell them thank you for your imput and leave it at that. Hugs!!! > > Has anyone had people tell them they are too skinny? Guest guest
being a person with an addictive personality (huh, go figure) I actually thought about this concept prior to my surgery. People can be too skinny. None of you who have posted sound as if this is your case though. Anyhow, knowing that I have a tendency to really go over the top at times I have a really good friend whom I trust with my every iota. I spoke to her and said tell me if I go too far, if I obsess or really do get too skinny. She has promised meshe would and I know if she were to bring up this issue ( which is totally a non issue at only 3 months out right now) it would be something I would need to listen to. So maybe asking a good friend or unbiased relative for an honest opinion might be something to do.
Guest guest
YEAH Jodi!!! It is good to see you here!! Great advice!!! OXOXOX > > At 5'8 " you are prolly fine at 136, but you should prolly not be losing any more weight. You need to maintain a healthy weight, and that is different for each person. Check with your PCP and your surgeon and get their input. Have your body fat tested...don't only go by what people say...do some fact-finding and address the situation realistically. > How do you feel -- not what do you see in the mirror -- but how do you FEEL...what are your eating habits? Are you continuing to lose weight? What's you fluid intake daily? What is your frame size - small/medium/large? If you are large framed and weigh 136, you could be underweight. If you have a small frame then you are prolly just fine... > Remember that having this surgery is not ONLY about losing weight -- it's about living a healthy life and life-style long-term. Don't become a slave to the numbers on a scale or balance...live as though you are not a bariatric patient and never had surgery -- make good decsions about food and activities. Everything else will come into line if your attitude is balanced and healthy. > > blessings to all, > jbbb > > > --------------------------------- > Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo!
