Guest guest
My 9 year old daughter is on Adderall for her ADHD....15 mg in the morning and 10mg at Noon......and it makes her Drowsy. So, how can it help you both stay awake? I'm just curious, because I'm going to talk to my Psych when I see him again about taking Ritalin or whatever to help me stay awake during the day since my insurance won't pay for Provigil..... but, I want to make sure that when I start taking something, that it's the one I'm going to stay on....I don't want to start taking one and then need to switch to another a month later. And, since I also suffer from ADD myself......I'd rather definately want to know which works better.....the Ritalin or the Adderall? Thanks! Tonia -------Original Message------- Barbara: Hi! I was just reading your posts on switching from Ritalin to Adderall(sp?) I too have been switched from Ritalin to Adderall and I have been on this new drug for now over 3 or 4 months. It has really worked out for me, the Adderall that is. Of course, Ritalin was good also. I just couldn't function very well without something like this to keep me going. I swear by this drug, it has helped me alot!!!!! I hope it does the same for you. I am wondering are they not giving you your license because of all the drugs? I mean who wants to be on all of these drugs, I know I don't want to, but have no choice in the matter. I can't function without them, god I sound like a drug addict. But I know deep down I am not. I just can't walk without the meds, or anything else for that matter. lol ha! I hope you have a pain-free day and night. Janet U. Letter Only By: Renda C. Guest guest
Tonia, My son is on stratera for adhd...he has been on in the past adderall, ritalin and concerta and my understanding is that all are stimulating drugs. Ritalin works for older people and cancer patients to make them want to eat. While with kids with adhd it has the side effect of not wanting to eat. The chemicals in the brain for an adhd child is different then someone without the disorder and the side effects then are different. While you would think a stimulant for adhd would make them more hyper and have less concentration it does the exact opposite for them...while if I took it it would be an upper and give me energy and less concentration. That is my understanding of the med anyways...Hope you find somethng that helps you...Hugs...ginnyTonia wrote: My 9 year old daughter is on Adderall for her ADHD....15 mg in the morning and 10mg at Noon......and it makes her Drowsy.
