Guest guest
That's so nice to hear. and I have been so close since she was born. We have a very open, wonderful relationship. I know she doesn't tell me everything, but she sure tells me much more than most teenage girls tell their moms. She can talk about anything with me. You wouldn't believe some of the things she's come to me with. and I have the same kind of relationship, but she's not tried to test me yet. It's just been the last few weeks that 's been testing me. I hope it passes quickly, cause I can't stand it! (Of course, I'm not mentioning the way she was when she was in the hospital. Boy, did she say some pretty mean things to me then. But, I think that was just because she was so sick, and I was there, and she knew I wouldn't leave or yell at her. She needed someone to vent to.) We moms get the best of it all and the worst of it all. I guess it is a backsided compliment to the security they feel with us. I feel like my daughters and I have an unusally close relationship too. At times , I hear far more than I would like!!
Guest guest
In fairness to , I should mention that she lamented her love for me, and how much she appreciated me never leaving her side, more often than she got angry with me when at the hospital. (I think the drugs may have had something to do with that - but I'll take what I can get!!) lol

Guest guest
That's the spirit! I found the teenage years were definately the " take what I can get " years and hold on till they reach their 20's. ---------------- Well put. Given the banter back and forth on the list, it will probably seem difficult to believe, but there was a point in Barb's teen years where it was an even money toss-up as to whether I was going to throw her out of the house or leave myself. It wasn't that she was being inherently evil, there were just some pretty substantial differences of opinion being held by two very forceful, strong-willed, opinionated individuals trying to occupy space at the same time under the same roof. And I can truthfully say that there was never a point where she was at risk of not reaching 20 ... although a couple of her boyfriends did come mighty close to that in my book. (And I was no where near as nice and mellow back then as I am now.) You love them, guide them, nurture them, help them back up when they stumble and fall, and give them the freedome to grow. And if you are lucky, about the point where you are ready to throw in the towel, they wake up one morning to the realization that they have been acting like an utter little shit and decide to rejoin the human race as a functioning, productive individual. And if you are really lucky, they go on to make you proud, like Barb has me.

I thought that was the moment when the parent changed and got a clue. Seriously, though, the teen rebellion years are not easy, but if Dad and I could get through, I'm sure you can. My rebellion was made more difficult by the fact that at I was in college and had a full-time job and my own car before I turned 17. It's really hard to think of oneself as a child in need of a curfew when you're working and in college. It was also difficult because a good many of my friends were already getting married. Surprisingly, *one* of them is still married. > And if you are > really lucky, they go on to make you proud, like Barb has me. Thanks. (See, he is sucking up because I cleaned his hard drive last night and will set up a spam filter for him this week.) -Barb

I was really irritated this morning when I opened it up and had 8 emails, with 7 of them spam.
