OK: If you get a 2 other replies from me saying basically the same

thing I'm sorry. I've tried to post twice. Once from my hotmail and

the second and this one from yahoo! I don't know where they are but

its not here.

Back to your question. The only possible reason I can think of is

narcotics can cause respiratory depression. They may be concerned

about that along with the anesthesia. Although, it is usually not a

problem- thats why we have Narcan, but it may cause problems. I think

Poncho's idea of talking with pain magagement would be good or at

least the doc that is going to sleep you- if he does not work

directly with the pain guys (or gals). Resp. depression is usually

seen more eith the " big gun " narcotics..ie Morphine, Fentanyl I've

had lots of surgeries and have never been told no pain meds before

though and even if that is their concern a week is way to

conservative. I'm not sure of the half life of Vicoden but I'm sure

it doesn't take a week to clear out of your system. I would certainly

be asking questions. I hope this helps- somewhat.
