Guest guest
Hi all. I made a chinese chix salad the other night. Perhaps similar? It was close to recipe just posted except I poached chix breasts in water with fresh garlic (powdered would work well too) and lots of garlic. Then added Napa cabbage. regular lettuce, almonds, more fresh garlic and ginger, soy sauce, olive oil and rice wine vinegar, and LOTS of Sesame oil. And a little chili oil too. I did also add one orange - peeled and in sections (more for DH) and just didn't serve myself but two of the sections so not bad. It is much better after it chills a while in fridge. Sorry no idea of carb count, but I think really only almonds and orange of course really are main sources. I usually make then dressing (vinegar, oils, garlic and ginger, soy) in separate container and make to taste. Sorry that's how I cook- no real measurements - only by smell and taste. (I dont use those crunchy noodles but add a good bit of almonds for crunch and bell pepper and onion.) Joya - Seven Up does not have caffeine - and no sodium (I think) - it seems to be one of the better tasting diet drinks. congrads to all you losers :-) and keep on this WOE - newcomers - it does work. pamela PS Has anyone noticed improvement in immune system on Atkins and reduced when cheating (i.e. I had some cookies (and sweetened eggnog) over holidays and then got a cold right away. Maybe this has been a recent topic. ( The cancer article reminded me of this). back to lurking mode....
Guest guest
Pamela - I make almost the same salad - usually without the chicken and I've never added an orange. (although it sounds great). There's nothing like it. I don't know my measurements either, though! It's fantastic. chinese salad and 7up Hi all.I made a chinese chix salad the other night. Perhaps similar? Guest guest
Hi Pamela, thanks for coming out of lurk mode, we LOVE when that happens. Your chinese chicken salad sounds great and has given me some ideas about chinese cabbage rolls. Yes, I have noticed when I am on Atkins, I am sick less often and do a lot better. I get colds and allergies but haven't had the stomach flu or a stomach virus or anything near what my other friends get. This is the time of year for all that and so far I haven't gotten anything. Sugar encourages cancer cell growth. Reducing your blood sugar appears to reduce your chances of getting colo-rectal cancer since cancer cells feed off sugar. Recent studies on women with breast cancer have shown that lower insulin production (like you get when on Atkins) have a better survival rate and a decreased rate of recurrence than women with higher insulin levels. Hyperinsulism has also been associated with higher risk for poly-systic ovarian syndrome. (DANDR, New Edition, pages 83-84) So all this would seem to show that low carb diets help the immune system in many ways, unlike the high carb diets. Let me ask you, if sugar feeds cancer cells, why is there no warning on sugar containers??? chinese salad and 7up Hi all.I made a chinese chix salad the other night. Perhaps similar? Guest guest
chinese cabbage rolls--- Kari, sounds interesting...how would you go about that? Carol
Guest guest
Well, I'm thinking about using the chicken and garlic and almonds... then instead of using cabbage, I'd like to try using collard green leaves because they are very sturdy. Basically, I'd like to use all the ingredients she used for her salad but somehow combine them inside of a leaf, roll up and steam.... I'm still thinking on this one. Guest guest
They sell them at the local supermarkets here, near where the cabbage is! I'll let you know.
