Guest guest
> Sometimes there is a problem with your body obsorbing certain supplements. I wonder if there is with glucosamine/chondroitin. > Does anyone know how to find out? There is a book called " The Complete Guide to Nutritional Supplements " by Adderly. It has half a dozen pages on glucosamine, but the section you are interested in says: " It's best to take the supplement with food and spread out the amount you're taking between two to four doses throughout the day. Also, a number of other supplements help the glucosamine-chondroitin team do its work, acting to catalye or augment their effectivenss. Among these are vitamins A, C, and E, calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc, boron, chromium, selenium, manganese, and silicon. " The dosage is also based on body weight. For less than 120 pounds take 1000 mg of Glucosamine and 800 mg of Chondroitin. For 120-200 pounds, take 1500 mg and 1200 mg. For over 200 pounds, take 2000 mg of glucosamine and 1600 mg of chondroitin. She also mentions that lab research they have done has shown that glucosamine-chondroitin products made by any of the following companies or their subsidiaries are guaranteed to contain the proper formulation: Nutramax, Rexall, Sundown, Labs and . All other brands are either violating patent law or are not putting in the proper ingredients.
Guest guest
I got the safeway brand. I compared the ingredients with the Rexall Sundown brand, and they were exactly the same.

What is the actual dosage or percentage actually used of each? There are some brands out there (and I don't know which ones off the top of my head)that, while they do contain glucosamine and chondroitin, have little more than trace quantities of each. There isn't enough of either in the pill to do any good.
