Hi Helen

I am near Kingston upon Thames. I was diagnosed with Ashermans in 2000, after retained placenta with my son in Nov 1999. to cut a long story short there are no real Ashermans experts in the UK (believe me I researched it till I was blue in the face.)PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider going to Germany to see Dr Gallinat who is the nearest expert. Before I found this group I did have surgery in this country and was told I was all clear. Well, it turned out I wasn't and I had a miscarriage. I then went to Dr Gallinat who I completely LOVE as I am currently 21 weeks pregnant. Although it has not been an easy pregnancy, I am still here and counting the days.

It only costs around 2,500 Euros, but if he works miracles surely it must be worth it? I can't stress enough how important it is to see an expert first time round rather than mess around with doctors who claim to know what they are talking about and don't.

Please feel free to ask any further questions you may have - you will find members on this board wonderfully helpful and caring and I wouldn't be in the situation I am in today without all their help and information.

M

Hello everyone,

I'm Helen, from Ashtead, Surrey, England.

I was diagnosed with AS just 2 weeks ago, following a hysteroscopy and am still in shock!

Here is my story - I'll try and be as brief as poss, but you know how these things can ramble on....

I gave birth to Isabella (who, incidentally, is now a very cheeky, feisty 17month old!!) in Sept 2001. I had an ERPC (D & C) 6 weeks later to remove retained products. The placenta was placenta accreta.. The registrar & consultant gyny both had a go at removing it but I continued to bleed.. eventually, 4 days and 2 hospitals later, I was allowed home!!

In August 2002, my GP referred me to a gynaecologist as I was still not having periods.. Last month he performed a hysteroscopy. He said the cervix was closed when he went in and that might be the only reason. Then 2 weeks ago, I received the results; he told me that when the hospital carried out the D & C, not only did they remove the placenta, but they also (inadvertently) removed the endometrium.

He told me I have AS. The only thing is, he's said there is no endometrium. but he hasn't said anything about scar tissue? Can anyone advise me on this??

My gyny said he'd not seen anyone with AS for about 5 years.... Does anyone know of an experienced gyny in England? (surrey/london pref??).. I'm going back to see him in 2 weeks time and want to be fully armed with the right questions....

Helen
