Guest guest
I wanted to get your knowledgeable, unbiased opinions on if we should be done with Sophie's helmet. I posted her before and current pictures in Plagio Babies S, but forgot to label them Sophia. Sorry. They are just the last ones in the folder. Please look at them and tell me what you think. We have had the helmet for almost 6 months and I am soooo ready to be done. But, if you all think there is more work to do, then we will press on. She's not perfect. But, is she very good? Pretty good? Normal? Okay? Close, but no cigar? Or, quick, put it back on!!!! I would love to have your input before we go in next week. I'm hoping it is our very last appointment! Thanks so much for all you do! - Boise, ID Sophie - 15 months - STARhelmet 3/15/06 - scapho/plagio
Guest guest
Hi , there is a lot of improvement. I'm not very familiar with scapho. my daughter has brachy. my neice is slightly scapho (untreated). can you post a photo of her face (just 'after')? does she asym there? maybe a side view too. Her head doesn't look " normal " , but then again my daughter's doesn't either and she' nearly done with her band. it looks a lot better. if you have the other photos it might give a better perspective. did your ortho give you any advice? good luck with your decision either way. -christine mom to sydney/ 8.5 mo/ starband 5-31-06 > > I wanted to get your knowledgeable, unbiased opinions on if we should > be done with Sophie's helmet. > > I posted her before and current pictures in Plagio Babies S, but > forgot to label them Sophia. Guest guest
Thanks so much, , for your reply. Not sure if these two new photos will help, but I posted a face picture and side shot (both with dry hair, they were the only ones I had) to the same folder. There is still some asymmetry in her face when I look in the mirror, but nothing like when we started. The cheeks are much more even, but her ears are still 'off'. I think the 'bad' one had the shape permanently changed from laying on it soooo much. I had to pry it open when I would get her up because it would fold over and stick closed when she slept. The symmetry number will be interesting to get next Friday. We started at 13mm ear offset. The ortho doesn't have much advice. She is very kind and loves the kids, but I'm afraid not very knowledgeable. She did not even know what active and passive bands were. She admitted to not treating kids as old as Sophie (10 months), and rarely a scapho baby. She had treated many young brachy babies. But that was our option in Boise, so we went for it!! Praise God we had an option!!! Thanks again for your input. I really appreciate it! > > > > I wanted to get your knowledgeable, unbiased opinions on if we should > > be done with Sophie's helmet. > > > > I posted her before and current pictures in Plagio Babies S, but > > forgot to label them Sophia. Guest guest
Quite honestly, I think she has had lots of improvement. She looks great to me and I don't notice any facial assymmetry at all in those current pictures you posted. Then again, I don't have a trained eye but how many people do? Also, remember that no one has a perfectly round head. As for pursuing further treatment, the question you need to ask yourself before deciding whether or not to pursue a 2nd band is whether or not you'll be happy with her head shape as it is now. Personally, I think she looks great and in my opinion a 2nd band isn't in order. HTH. Donna
Guest guest
Hi , I think the other photos are helpful, and that she looks really good. Since she's already 15 mo growth will be fairly slow, and I'm not sure you would get a lot more improvement anyway. Given her appearance I think you can stop now. You are lucky to have so much correction with an inexperienced ortho. I know that having something close to home is a big factor in treatment. She's a beautiful girl! -christine mom to sydney /8.5 mo/ starband 5-31-06 > > > > > > I wanted to get your knowledgeable, unbiased opinions on if we > should > > > be done with Sophie's helmet. > > > > > > I posted her before and current pictures in Plagio Babies S, but > > > forgot to label them Sophia. Guest guest
, I just looked at Spohie's pics and I think she looks much better. The decision however is all yours. If you can be satisfied with the shape of her head the way it is, then you can be more comfortable with making the decision whether you are going to stop with the band or not. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
