(I know from past experience). My goal weight " should be " 120...no way do I want that.I'm down almost 40 lbs. in 2 months, and I am considered a slow loser...I have been keeping track. Ask Dr.R for his data,he's already quoted his avg.300 lb. pt. wt.loss. Also keep in mind people who do RNY usually do higher wt. patients, therefore have " better weightloss " .I.E a 500 lb pt. loses faster and more than a 260 lb. pt. Good luck on your journey. It isn't " just " a tool, it is a proven, effective nearly fool proof way to lose weight. Which is why I'm considering a distal Roux En Y laparoscopically at Alvarado, instead. >> I agree, from personal experience, that if enough of the bowel is bypassed you will loose the weight. . .along with all the vitamins that that part of the bowel is to absorb. It also causes great discomfort with gas and bowel movements. My father had to have 3 feet of his small intestine and 1 foot of his large intestine removed due to Chrone's Disease. He suffers with this everyday. His social life is now virtually nonexistent. He cannot eat with friends. Within 10 minutes of any meal or drink (including morning coffee) he is in the bathroom. These movements are very abnormal in both consistency and smell (this is why he cannot eat socially). My mother had a gastric bypass done about 25 years ago where they bypassed a large portion of her intestine. The surgery caused her so much discomfort that she had to have the procedure reversed. Again she had problems with gas and bowel movements. I am only offering this information as an educational piece to your journey. I beg you to please research all the procedures available before making your decision. No surgery is the answer in its self, they all take discipline and a commitment by the person going through the procedure. Feel free to e-mail me if I can help you in any way through your process. Good luck!!!!! -Steph. Post-Op 3/27 3/27 245 lbs - 4/26 211 lbs Work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like nobody's watching.
