Re: non-related plagio question for my 8.5 month old son

Hi, Hopefully, it's okay to post a non-related plagio question. Everyone on here has been extreemly helpful that I figured I would share my diaper dilemna and hopefully get some suggestions that will work for my son. My son, Eli, is 8 1/2 months old. He weighs 22.5 and 29+inches (he was 29 and 6mos. but don't know what he is now). Okay, my question, for the last 2 weeks Eli is getting up about an hour earlier than he had been and he is absolutely soaked (including his PJ's). I've already moved him up to size 4 diapers (Pamper, Cruisers brand). I'm wondering if anyone has had sucess with another brand. I feel like he will outgrow all diaper sizes before he is old enough to be potty trained. I'd love suggestions as there are so many brands and it could be rather expensive to just start trying different sizes and

brands. Let me know when you respond your child's size and whether your child is a girl or boy. It would probably help me most if I hear back from mom's of boys. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the Huggies Night-time diapers? I found with all three of my

boys their diaper size plateaued once they hit size 4 (pampers w/ baby #1,

huggies w/ baby #2 and kirkland w/ baby #3) - they moved into size 4 around 6

months old and stayed there for a good year before moving into size 5. Perhaps

your son will do the same and you won't be changing sizes as quickly as you

think you will.

Hi, and no I don't have a boy ;-) However Pampers has Baby Dry and

Cruisers, and the woman at toys r us told me that Baby Dry keeps you

drier, cruisers are more comfortable for walking around. On the other

hand one friend told me pampers are better for girls, huggies for

boys. I have no idea if that is true, but sometimes my daughter does

leak in huggies so it could be.

We use Pampers Baby Dry size 4, Wyatt is 7.5 months, about 22 lbs, and 27+ inches. We have never had a problem, even though they are full when he gets up, no leaks though. We haven't had any luck with Huggies. Maybe just try the Baby Dry to start. Hi ! I also have a " big " boy...he's somewhere around 21-22lbs

at 7.5 months - not sure how long he is, but I can tell you he wears

12 mo clothes. He wears Huggies size 4 diapers. I agree with the

Pampers - girls and Huggies - boys thing...I think this is

why....with boys, mine anyway, we'd get a lot of leaks out the

top/side - so Huggies are good because they are more snug fitting on

the top with the elastic waistband. I do notice they are a bit

looser around the thighs than Pampers are, so I imagine for that

reason Pampers would fit girls better where the leaks would probably

happen more at the leg openings. One thing we tried is putting him

in the Huggies Overnights size 5 (one size bigger than he wears

during the day) and so far, that's been pretty helpful. He still

has occasional overnight leaks, but not as many...I was skeptical

about " overnight diapers " thinking what's the difference, but they

do hold a lot! I worry about him running out of sizes, too, but I

think as they get older the growth really does slow a lot, and most

of the time they slim down, so the waists on the diapers probably

fit better. Hope that helps!

We didn't like Huggies in the beginning but like I responded to it could be his legs were too skinny for them. Thanks everyone that responded. I started responding individually but then thought I'd save myself some time! I am not sure which diaper I'll try first but it sounds like Huggies Supreme/overnight ones, Pamper's Baby Dry, or a bigger size for a night would be my best bet to start with. There are these inserts called diaper doublers. They have them at the

grocery store and Toys R Us. They work great!!!! You just put them in

the diaper at night. They literally double the amount the diaper can

hold.

, Another thing you might try is a Pampers Baby Dry with a Huggies Overnight (one size larger) on top of it. That's what we do with my son, and we've usually had success with it (though of course, this morning he was soaked through, but that has only happened one other time since we've tried this combo of diapers!). I thought 2 diapers would be too bulky for him, but he does not mind. We've tried almost every diaper out there and this is the combo that seems to work best for our son. Good luck! We use cloth diapers. (boy 5months, 15.5lbs) leaks through Pampers and Huggies in about 3 hours. He is a heavy wetter especially at night. We use FuzziBunz (a Pocket diaper) with 2 inserts and a cloth diaper doubler. Works great and no leaks.
