Plagio Severity:

Oblique at 30 deg (US1 and US2) = Length of diagonal taken at 30° on each

side (30° corresponds to the corner of the eye). The subtraction of US1 and

US2 gives an indication of the asymmetry of the head.

normal 0-3 mm

very mild <6 mm

mild - 6-10 mm

moderate - 10-15 mm

severe - 15+ mm

Brachycephaly Severity:

Cephalic Ratio = Cranial Breadth/Cranial Length

ideal ratio - 78%

normal - 73-83%

moderate - 83.1% to 87.9%

severe - 88% +

Normal Measurements?

Just wondering what measurements are considered normal. My daughter

was casted for a DOC Band today and it was also the first time that

she had measurements taken. She's a brachy baby with a cephalic index

of 95% - which is clearly not normal but I was wondering what is

considered normal.... also for facial assymmetry. Thanks!

Molly, Thanks for the info! I am also having trouble interpreting the measurements from CT and

don't know how bad things are for my twins. Can anyone tell me what

the normal, mild, moderate, severe categories are for the following

measurements?

cranial width

cranial length

cephalic index

cranial vault assymetry

mid-face assymetry

skull-base assymetry

Thanks so much!!

hi-

i've been lurking for the past few months as we visited drs & doing

repo. all drs (ped, cranial specialist, neurosurgeon, osteopath, &

physical therapist (tort)) tell me daughter's assymmetry is mild &

that repositioning will work. i went ahead & had measurements taken

at CT anyway.

CVA = 23mm

Mid-Face = 3mm

Skull Base = 7mm

why are the drs telling me it's mild if anything 15mm + is severe.

so confused! anyone else had similar measurements & had success with

repo & osteo? am ready to just get band to be done with all the

uncertainty!!

thanks!
