Sheila thanks so much! I've been trying to find some resources for my son for CST. Let us know how it goes! Re: Success with repositioning?

Here are a few sites with some info. We've been doing it with my

son and it's still a little too soon to tell if it's helped his head

shape, but I think it's definitely helped his tort related issues.

The treatment is very gentle - like a massage.

Well I thought I would chime in on this since I went today for my first cranial sacral therapy appointment. My son goes for the first time in the morning. Our therapist thought it would be best if I could come before him so I could understand what cst is. Basically it uses a light touch (very light, no pushing or massaging) to release any restrictions in the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system consists of the brain, the spine and the sacrum, or tailbone, and the fluid and membranes that surround this system. Restrictions can come in the form of birth trauma, injury, misalignments, etc. Essentially by monitoring the craniosacral system, a therapist is able to support this system to heal itself. I know this doesn't really make sense, as I am not sure it even makes sense to me and I have been through it, I just thought I would share what I learned

today. I can tell you though, that it cannot hurt the baby, because the touch is very light. I know many people in this group and the older plag group have had luck. I wanted to try it to facilitate the helmet. I will tell you that it was a very powerful experience for me. The therapist was able to detect and release a misalignment and tightness in my hips/tailbone, something that resulted in the emergency C-section delivery of my son. Weird. I will go back as I hope she can help me with my TMJ (jaw). Anyway, just felt obliged to share my personal experience. I will let you know how it goes with my son. I do know that cst is like chiropractic, you can't go just once and expect everything to be better, not to say you can't experience change in one visit, but it will take many visits to really see results. Hope

that helps, KY Mom to Wyatt, 7 1/2 months Becker Helmet, 2/1/2007lexie francis <lonlygoth@...> wrote: thanks alot lexie, deffinatly going to check em outNina Seibert <nseibertsbcglobal (DOT) net> wrote: Sheila thanks so much! Thanks ! Please keep us updated on CST. I want to try everything I can since my son can not wear the helmet (allergic to it) and it's nice to hear someone is trying CST. I just hope our insurance pays for it! I've tried to contact some places here in Southern California but so far none of them take insurance and they are all really expensive. I'm not going to give up though, even if I have to drive to LA (I'm in San Diego) I'd like to try it if others have seen improvement. Keep me updated!! Our cst doen't take insurance. Just a thought...you may want to try to find a physical therapist or chiropractor who does cst and accepts insurance and can file the cst as a therapy charge. I found several in our area, some that take insurance and some that don't, but I decided on our therapist because she specializes in children/babies and pregnancy. In fact, I got her name from a pediatric chiropractor who practices cst but doesn't do babies. We are paying $70 an hour, and we are in KY just to give you a comparison...it may be much more in Southern California. Just a suggestion. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes. What kind of band did your child have? It is possible to be allergic to the foam in the STARband. Fortunately, Orthomerica, makers of the STARband, can make a band with a hypoallergenic foam called Aliplast. There are a couple of locations in So Cal that provide the STARband (see http://www.orthomerica.com/technology/scan_locations.htm) if you are still interested in pursuing a band.

Hi Molly! We did have the hypoallergenic band. I also had an allergic reaction so we at least know where he gets his overly-sensitive skin from. His head is actually looking better and better every day and we go back into the office for measurements often. He spends almost no time on his back so it is helping a lot. Thanks for the info though! Re: Success with repositioning?

That's too bad the hypoallergenic band didn't work for you. However, it's great to hear that the CST is working. Lots of people swear by it. My son had a band but we are still seeing a CST for his residual facial asymmetry.
