Guest guest
Hi everyone! Well I had my genetics appointment at NIH yesterday. The geneticist is about 100% sure I have EDS. They did a skin biopsy. She believes I am either type 1 or 2, or 4, or 6, or 7. I will have to wait for 2 months for the results. It seems I fall a little bit into each category. Sincerely, S. Guest guest
- you could have a variant like and I. We have symptoms from many types of EDS. I have traced my EDS thru at least 2 branches on my mother's dad's side and my dad's side of the family. NIH Hi everyone! Well I had my genetics appointment at NIH yesterday. Guest guest
Bonnie, Thank you for writing back. I know for sure EDS is on my Mom's side of the family because her brother has it. My Mom may have but she passed away 30 years ago. I'm beginning to wonder if my Dad may have had it too, things I suspect. Then the two of them married and then an abnormal variant in me came along. My two sisters seem to be ok so far. Can anything this weird happen? Sincerely, S. NIH Hi everyone! Well I had my genetics appointment at NIH yesterday. The geneticist is about 100% sure I have EDS. There are many ways of EDS being inherited, some being recessive, some dominant. And there are a few documented cases of EDS being inherited in other ways......it will probably be better explained once they feel they have a grip on what type of EDS you have. Take care. Guest guest
I am so glad that the appointment went well. The biopsy will tell you if you have vascular type or not, and can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months for a result, so try to hang in there. Regardless of the type of EDS you have, we're your family and we'll help you through it! Jill
