Guest guest
Hi all, I was wondering, is it necessary to use the Yogourmet Yogurt maker. I have found a much cheaper one on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/- /B00004SUHY/qid=1122604511/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl60/002-8966130- 6871244?v=glance&s=home-garden&n=507846 The " Salton YM9 1-Quart Yogurt Maker " . Has anyone tried this one? Thanks, Erek
Guest guest
Erek, You might call Salton or visit e-salton.com to get a few more details on the product. The link you sent said that there is an " indicator light " to show when the yogurt is ready. That's fine. You can ignore a light. But if the unit actually switches OFF when it thinks the yogurt is ready, that will be a problem. Most people only ferment yogurt 4-10 hours like the description says, but with SCD we ferment the yogurt for 24 hours. You just want to make sure that this unit doesn't automatically shut off because you want it to stay on for the full 24 hours. Other than that, I don't see any problem with it. Any yogurt maker will make SCD yogurt. It's the length of time that is different about SCD yogurt. Nothing else is different. So, find a machine in your budget that doesn't have an automatic shut off and you'll be just fine.
