Guest guest
Laurie, Yes my hair is falling out but I was under the impression that I was losing mine because I was on Depakote...I haven't heard about Neurontin making your hair fall out also...if that's the case, I want off the Neurontin although it might be possibly helping me but I'm WAY too vain and I'd rather have my hair... Guest guest
I haven't heard of either these meds causing hair loss but wouldn't be surprised. We all end up on so many different things. Even stress can have the effect of hair loss...Go figure. Guest guest
Dawn, I know that I get itchy from some meds like ultram and narcotics. I use non dorwsy benedryl and also I used to use allegra...but that didn't help at all. Over the counter helped me more then prescriptions for some reason. Hope it helps some for you...Hugs..Ginnyjomal1@... wrote: Do you have any ideas about itching!!! Dawn, If you are itching due to pain meds, there are a couple of things you can take prior to taking the meds to help with the itching. They are antihistimines, and I can't remember the name(s) of the two that I've had. Ask your Dr, and if he doesn't know, let me know and I'll call my Dr. and ask him. Unforunately for me, they didn't work for me either, so I still can't take the pain meds. Hugs, Jo

Guest guest
Thought I'd stick my two cents in here. I've never heard mention of Neurontin causing hair loss. However, I was told that Deppakote can cause hair loss. In fact, it was listed as one of the side effects on the sheet my doctor gave me about it. Then, when I had been on it for a couple of weeks, and my hair follicles began a mass exodus from my scalp, the doctor said it was the deppakote. In the grand scheme of things, had the medication been helpful it would've been an acceptable trade-off. Unfortunately, that's not the way things ended up. Guest guest
There may be something related to that particular drug, because I really thought I was going to look like Kojak!!!!!!!(Boy am I old!!!) Well just a thought. Do you have any ideas about itching!!! When I take to much pain medication I want to rip my skin off and it makes me crazy! If you have any ideas please let me know, Dawn I have been doing that lately too, only mine isn't when I take my medicine, it starts up after I take a shower. Well Dawn you aren't any older than me, Kojak was one of my favorites shows, when I was a kid. lets hope we both stop itching. Lin
Guest guest
Well when my psychiatrist put me on the Depakote, all he told me was that it would cause weight gain but when my hair started getting thinner and thinner, I totally flipped!!! I haven't been on the Depakote for a little over a month now and I feel no different now then when I was on it..it didn't do a thing for me except make me gain 20lbs and started hair loss...if my hair doesn't start getting thicker, I'm gonna stop the Neurontin too...guess I'm WAY to vain... ~Chrissy~

Guest guest
Chrissy - Not vanity, it's a hard thing to deal with especially if you're not getting any benefit from the medications. Don't be so hard on yourself. It'd bothered me a lot, too. Hope things will start to look up for you real soon. I used to take 1/2 an hour to shower dress, dry hair and put on make up, and out the door I went. So no you are not too vain, to me it means you are fighting the depression that likes to creep up on us. take care, Lin
