Not a cure but.....

This goes under the heading of " masking the symptoms " I guess but maybe it

can be helpful to someone. There is a process available now where you can

get " spray painted " with self tanner. You go into a booth and it actually

sprays the tanner on you. It looks much more natural than the stuff in the

bottle. Since I can't get in the sun (melanoma related more so than rosacea)

I stay as pale as can be. I thought maybe if I tried this tanning method it

might give my face a more even appearance. First I checked with my

dermatologist and he didn't see any reason why I shouldn't try it if I would

go and have the solution tested on the inside of my elbow first to make sure

I didn't have an allergic reaction. I figured I wouldn't since I have used

the bottled self tanners before on my legs with no bad results other than

streaking. Well, I really like the results. This is the first time I have

even had what appears to be a tan since I have had to be so careful of sun

exposure in the past. I can go without a foundation now and I think that is

having a good effect on my face. What redness I had on my face seems to

blend into the " tan " now and is not really noticable. And no more hot hose

in the summer! It costs $20 per session here and you need two sessions

before you really look tanned. Then you go once a week to maintain it. It's

offered at beauty salons here in Alabama. Yep, it is a chemical that is

being sprayed on you and not for everyone. Like I said, this isn't a cure.

It is more of a cover up. You still need to use sunscreen when you go

outside, of course. This isn't a recommendation....just thought I would post

what I am doing in case anyone might be interested.
