Guest guest
Just wondering if there are any type 1's who are on insulin, but also on Byetta. My doc just put me on 5 micros of Byetta once a day cuz we can't seem to get my numbers down with just insulin, healthy eating, and exercise. Is anyone underweight or average weight and on Byetta? Did you lose weight? I really can't afford to lose much - I'm thin as it is! He said if I lose too much weight or can't keep my food down, I'll have to go back off of it. The side effects look miserable...nausea, vomitin, diarrhea, weight loss, loss of appetite...sheesh! Any type 1s who could let me know if taking Byetta helped them out, and anyone at all who's on it who can just fil me in on how it affected you, positive and negative, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks! -Jess t1 since 05/05 NYS

Guest guest
I am Type 2 and on Byetta. I am overweight though. But the Byetta has helped my tremendously! I now take very little Insulin daily as compared to the amount I was taking in October. I have lost 23-lb and feel great. I have very little appetite most of the time but for me that is a plus. I hope that you have success with it without weight loss though.... Sue in Va

Guest guest
I think any medication that I have ever taken the time to research, and I have researched many as the wife had Breast Cancer, have the same side effects as below. I think it is the law, if it is a prescription drug, it must have these side effects. > > The side effects look > miserable...nausea, vomitin, diarrhea, weight loss, loss of > appetite...sheesh! >

Guest guest
My husband was just diagnosed Type 2 a couple weeks ago and started on Byetta only, no insulin or oral meds. Husband is at least 100 lbs overweight and normally has a very healthy appetite. The Byetta has greatly decreased his appetite. I think he probably has lost a little weight (decreased appetite, decreased food intake) but don't know numbers since he's not climbed on a scale since starting it. He has complained of no negative side effects that I know of. I'll ask him when he gets home and let you know. C Re: Type 1 and Byetta I am Type 2 and on Byetta. I am overweight though. Guest guest
, you're right. I am a retired nurse, and the side effects of drugs are listed as possible side effects. So, it is telling us that we MIGHT have these side effects. Not that we will have them. Tucson Kitty, about 80 degrees out! Guest guest
Well.....my doc was concerned about nausea and vomiting...is that really common with this? he made it sound like it was pretty much going to happen, but if it was too terrible or I lost too much weight because of it, we'd stop, but if it was bearable, we'd keep plugging along. ) I hate puking...LOL...hate it, hate it, hate it. Try to avoid it at all costs. So if I do, even once, that's probly going to be it for me. Thanks! -Jess > So, it is telling us that we MIGHT have these side effects.
