Guest guest
When I first came down with Pancreatitis last month they tried to shove a NG tube up my nose. I threw a fit like a child and refused it cuz it hurt so bad. I have not been able to sleep and have been reading stories. I was wondering. Do I have to have an NG tube? Why do they do this? I know they have to pump the stomach out and all but, still........ That is pretty painful and scary. Isn't their any way around it? I don't want to go through that again. Guest guest
Dear Elicia, That is what I was thinking. I was wondering why they had to do that if I was going to get phenergan anyways. They said they thought blood was in my stomach. I would have rather had them cut me open and take the blood out then to put that down my nose. lol HUGS, P.S. Actually I don't think I would like that too much either. ROFL! UGH!

Guest guest
Hi ! When they said they were going to " tube " me, I just refused. They said it was to help clear the stomach and avoid nausea. I just told them I'd deal with it. I knew the symptoms would go away on there own. Now, if I felt like I was dying I was so sick, I would probably let them do it. But not when I know it's going to go away on it's own with the meds! Sure hope you start feeling better! Guest guest
Hi. Even the experts are divided on the benifits of N/G tubes. I hate them. Unless they put one in while I'm out during surgery, they ain't puttin' one in me again. I usually have been vomiting pretty steadily by the time I get to the hospital anyway. N/G tubes = Yuck!! y B. > When I first came down with Pancreatitis last month they tried to shove a NG > tube up my nose. I threw a fit like a child and refused it cuz it hurt so > bad. I don't want to go through that again. Sincerely, Hi . Many years ago it was a routine part of treatment for pancreatitis to insert an NG tube. It was thought necessary to " decompress the gut " , empty the GI tract of food & gas. These days, it is seldom done for people having pancreatitis, except to relieve nausea &/or vomitig that isn't eased by medications. At any rate, you always can refuse any treatments, especially if you aren't given a good reason for them. " Just say NO " jang

Guest guest
, I never have an ng tube done. They tried to do it and they only times they are successful is if I'm out on anesthetics (not pain meds, but general anesthesia). It's too painful when I'm awake and I refuse to have one put in.
