Guest guest
Hi Group Does it work to use antihistamines for special occasions like weddings where you want to drink, or family gatherings at the beach where you are exposed to the sun and wind, or heavy excercise like hiking or biking? Does it reduce flushing from such stimuli as mentioned above enough so as not to cause reactionary papules and pustules? Dr Nase says you can use 24 hour non-drowsy antihistamines without side effects for as long or short as you want, although if using consistently for long periods of time to expect that " you may experience more flushing or dilation than pre-antihistamines " if you stop them, " So either decrease the dose slowly or don't cycle on and off for extended periods of time. " Does anyone have definitions for Papules and Pustules? I don't know the difference! Also, do those of you who have had successful treatments with Photoderm still flush when exposed to your personal triggers? Do you still experience rosacea symptoms like Papules and Pastules? Do these triggers cause more blood vessel damage even if you are not experiencing full-on cea symptoms? Comments? Thanks from e in Australia
Guest guest
I have switched from the Sudafed types to the Chlor types. I don't know if this will work as well, it's just that I couldn't find the Sudafed type at the Costco's near me. I'll let you all know what happens. I am taking two 4 mg tablets three times per day, but I am working myself up to that point, so if anyone thinks I am boo-booing, let me know please. Without these meds I am an itching mess. Guest guest
Hi e--from what I've heard, the 24-hour, non-drowsy, anti- histamines have to build to a stable dose in your body before they're completely effective. You generally have to take them 4-5 days before this happens. If you're looking for a quick fix, I would definitely recommend an OTC nasal spray, such as Nasalcrom, and an OTC anti-histamine such as Chlor-Trimeton (it's one of the better ones as far as drowsiness goes). If you do tend to get drowsy, take it along side a caffeinated beverage (assuming caffeine isn't a problem for you). As far as photoderm goes, I've had three and have noticed a marked reduction in flushing in general, and as a result of stress. However, for two weeks after treatment, my skin is very volatile and I actually tend to flush more than usual. I had serious permanent flushing before the treatments and will probably still need several more. I don't get pimples or papules so I can't comment on how it helps with those, but I think if you eradicate the cause of the problem all symptoms should diminish.
