Does this mean I can go back to my small Snickers bar in mid afternoon?

Hi Kitty,

Have that small Snickers bar, then test 1 hr and 2 hrs later to see the

results. You may be surprised.

Happy New Year

Or simply get a good exercise bike and ride inside any time. Works for me - it

is mostly all I use - they are always for sale in the paper and you can get a

used one easy - just try and get a good one that doesn't make a ton of noise.

;o)

Where I live it is to far for me to ride a bike with my two kids. I

would be dead before I got back home LOL. But on a serious note it is

way to far. Also can you tell me where to find recipes to help me

along the way>

I second that. Freecycle is great. And if you put on your Wanted that you

need to exercise to help control your diabetes, you will probably get a

better response. Read all the rules for your local freecycle before putting

in a Wanted but it's a great way to get rid of things you don't need and

find used things you can use..for free.

Also, I got my son's medic alert necklace for about $10 at Walgreens (ask

the pharmacist.)

Find a local freecycle group (www.freecycle.org) and put out a request

for a bike. I see exercise equipment on our local group rather

frequently.

Have you tried chewing sugarless gum instead of eating something? That

works for me. I have a certain amount of food I eat for the day and

look at my list and tell myself if I have to eat it will be vegetables

or fruit, so I know if I don't want that it is not because I am hungry.

Therefore, I came up with the sugarless gum idea. Chew, chew, chew away

the stress, works for me. You might want to try it. I totally do not

like how I feel if I eat carbs anymore when depressed as it actually

sinks me lower into a depression. Once you make the connection of the

cycles and how it works you won't want to go there. It's about

knowledge and breaking habits and it will change. My first reaction now

is not to do the stuff carbs thing as in the past. I tried, I looked

and looked and gave up as I would say yeah that doesn't do anything but

make me feel worse so do I want to feel worse or better? Exercise is

another thing that works to get out of that mood. Been there, done

that, didn't like the results, had to change what I was doing.

>I'm having trouble with staying on my low carb right now due to stress from

the eye surgeries. Seems like the first thing that I want to do is stuff carbs

in my mouth when I feel bad or am depressed.

I have a stack of celery cut up in the fridge - when I want to munch, I grab

some of those - makes you think you are eating something! I put a tiny bit of

my organic peanut butter on it to make it taste better. I also found some good

crackers only 1 carb per cracker that works nicely with a little cheese/ pb/ or

just plain for a little snacking. You have to just take out 2 or 3 though and

put the box away!

I can't stand the sugar free gum - gives me a headache - but I have found

mints/gum on a website that has xylitol instead of saccarine or the other

substitues that is supposted to taste better with no headache (which I get from

saccarine and other artificial sweeteners). I haven't tried this gum I found

yet but will be ordering some soon.
