Hello everyone!

This is my first posting, so I hope I do this correctly . . .

Today is Easter, and I am spending a wonderful day with my family

here in Michigan. Tomorrow, I board a plane for NC. Tuesday, the

25th, I will have my surgery. I am very excited and ready to start

my new life.

I'd love to hear from any post-ops who could offer some advice and

encouragement. I am 29 years old, 5'1 " , 260 lbs. I hope to get down

to 112 lbs. Other than being tired of being tired all the time (and

hating how I looked), the biggest motivation for me having this

surgery is because my husband and I have been battling infertility

for the past 3 years. My Gyno says that being obese is probably my

biggest hurdle to conception (I don't menstruate on my own due to my

weight). At my clinic visit, Dr. R spoke about 6 women who became

pregnant after the surgery. If any of you read this, I'd sure love

to hear from you!

So, please wish me luck and keep me in your prayers (I'll need it!)!

Hi Artie!

I was lucky in that my insurance approved the procedure very quickly,

without any work on my part.

Everything has been wonderful. The only " complaint " I have (if you

can call it that), was that the only way to get my surgery date over

my spring break (I'm a teacher) was to go to a clinic meeting two

weeks before (since they didn't have clinics this Saturday due to

Easter). That would've been no big deal, except that I live in

Michigan. My husband and I drove straight through the night to make

the 1 pm clinic appointment. I was running on fumes and got to be a

bit cranky when I had to wait until 4:45 before Dr. Rutledge

addressed our group (he was still tied up with the morning session).

I think that those visits need to be handled a bit more efficiently.

It was good to meet people, but 3 hrs, 45 minutes was way too long a

wait to speak to the Dr. (especially after no sleep).

Other than that, my experience has been good so far. I'm feeling

very confident and look forward to my surgery. I'll post more when

I'm post-op!

Good luck to you,

in Michigan

Hi ,

I'm Marti, I live in Flushing and teach in Flint. My mother

lives in Grand Blanc. I'm very excited for you. I wanted to have surgery

this week but didn't want to make 2 trips. I wish you luck and will be

praying for you. Can I call you when you get back? Hopefully I can have

surgery next month.

Before you know it you will be a thin mommy!

Marti in MI

What insurance do you have?

Diane-

I am so glad to hear you are doing so well. You are the exact height and

weight as I am. You don't happen to be 36 do you??

-Hi Su

I had MGB Thursday 4-20-00. I am really feeling good. I had no

problems in surgery(38 Minutes) and have had really no pain or nausea.

My stomach just feels a little sore.

I am 5'5 " and weighed 281 lbs. I know I shouldn't have weighed so

soon, but I did. 3 days post op and i've lost 7 lbs! That's

exciting to me! I plan to go back to work on Wednesday.

Good Luck and you're in my prayers,

Sincerely,

Diane Flowers
