Guest guest
Hi Janet, I take 10 mg of Ambien *with* melatonin. I find it much more effective this way. I go to sleep faster and sleep for about 8 hours. Prior to taking the two together, I slept about 5-6 hours a night on Ambien alone. I have seen no side effects in the 2-3 months I've been doing this. OTOH, a friend of mine didn't get same results, but since melatonin isn't expensive it might be worth a try. YMMV... Guest guest
Helen, have you ever tried my favorite sleep aid, generic Benadryl? 2 pills 30 minutes before bedtime and I'm out in 15 minutes. Before Benadryl I had the most AWFUL insomnia - all 3 kinds (but not in the same night) -- : initial, when it would take me 3 hours to fall asleep, middle, when I'd fall right asleep then be wide awake at 2 a.m. and not able to fall back asleep, and terminal, waking up at 4:30 a.m. never to fall asleep again. With Benadryl (generic) I fall asleep right away and sleep through the night, at least until 5:30 when the alarm goes off. And I'm not groggy in the morning, either.
