You are right that most kids need ratios higher than 2:1 or 2.5:1 but

remember this is an individual thing. We didn't drop from 3:1 until

we started working toward Atkins, but I have a feeling we could have

done it without problems. One child here (was it Luke??) started at

2.5:1, if I remember correctly. I guess I'm saying do what you think

might be best for , even if others aren't doing the same. I

wonder if lowering her ratio might make those early morning seizures

worse, though?? I don't know.

I had another thought...

How many meals does eat in a day? We started out on 4 but after

two weeks we modified that to 3 meals and 2 snacks (each equivalent

to half a meal). My was getting very hungry in the morning at

school between breakfast and lunch. Spreading out her food by doing

the snacks really did help to stabilize her ketones.

a low ratio, which is another concern. She seems to produce ketones

so easily, and I worry that she may be prone to acidosis, like

's daughter Langan???

high, but not crazy high.
