Guest guest
Carla I am the same way, because we don't get much snow on the west side of the Cascade mountain range. I love to watch it snow and drink so hot cocoa, it is so peaceful, I know all you Northeasterners get sick and tired of snow, but we don't get enough to get sick of it, now we do get cold and rain, and rain, and more rain etc etc. My family was living near Houston in the early 70's when they got 4 inches of snow, never seen a whole city just come to a stand still. That was probably the only snow day my high school ever had -- Re: Carla/Tonia I heard the same thing about the winter according to the Farmer'sAlmanac. As much as I dread the weather changes because it reallycauses me to hurt alot, I still love winter time. I do hope we get tosee a lttle snow here. It's a rare thing and I get like a littlechild when I see it predicted for us. I just hope all you Northernersstay safe because I know if we see snow this year, yall will see abunch more than we will.Have a great day everyone!Carla> > > > Carla, I can't imagine living somewhere it's warm most of the year! lol> > And Tonia, Hold to your horses, it's only going to get worse! Guest guest
Four years ago we had an ice storm that started on Christmas Day and by the afternoon we had lost electricity and phone line. We are on a well and since the pump was electric we also lost water immediately. We didn't get our electricity back on until New Year's Day. So we went without all the stuff for a week. Our city basically shut down for the whole week. Needless to say, we now have stocked up on everything we might need in case of something like that so we won't be caught unaware again LOL Carla On Fri, 15 Oct 2004 14:14:56 -0700 (Pacific Daylight Time), wrote: > > > Carla I am the same way, because we don't get much snow on the west side of > the Cascade mountain range. Guest guest
Yikes Carla, That doesn't sound like that was any fun at all. When the snow storm in Houston hit, we had just moved down from Michigan so we were laughing to watch cars slip and slide on the highways, on the TV of course LOL Lin -- Re: Carla and cold weather Four years ago we had an ice storm that started on Christmas Day andby the afternoon we had lost electricity and phone line. Guest guest
Lin: Hi! I just read your posts to Carla about Houston in the cold weather. In the 80's I moved down there from Bloomington, Illinois. I had to laugh because you said you seen the cars in and out of the ditches slipping and sliding away on Television, well I am here to tell you that I was on the actually interstate when they were doing this, ha! ha! I too laughed so hard, they drove like maniacs on the snow. It also closed up the highways and businesses. This was with 1 inch of snow or 2, they wouldn't make it in the MIDWEST!!! Ha! They were all out buying chains for the tires and all the snow shovels and snow blowers they could fine. Ha! I still laugh everytime I think about this, I was only 18 years old at the time, I had just graduated from a small school Heyworth, Illinois. Than I moved out into a huge state like Houston,it was definitely experience, That was for sure. Hope you are having a nice day and hopefully not much pain today. Janet As a matter of fact I moved home on Halloween night from Houston to Illinois I think about this every year around this time. Those sure were the memories, Ha! Thanks for a good laugh!!!! wrote: Yikes Carla, That doesn't sound like that was any fun at all.
