Guest guest
Emma, We've been on SCD only 6 weeks. We had a lot of regressive bowel issues and die off. Right now we're trying to stay stable which we do if we stay at stage one or two foods. Anytime we've tried like cooked spagetti squash or a raw apple we are up all night with screaming pain, gas, and irritable bowel. I'm assuming its hurting his colitis. It just seems he's more sensitive to textures now than he was before. I'm hoping this is all part of the healing process. My son was on saccomyarcces boulardi (non prescription), nystatin, amphotericin b, sporonax at different times. His reactions to each of these was different: s.b. lots of die off and up all night, but better attention, nystatin calm stomach but not much verbally, ampho b horrible stomach and sleep but the most talking and interaction I've ever seen for him, and sporonax the most calm stomach and sleep and absolutely no speech!!???? My daughter responded to Diflucan. I recently bought Kyolic garlic but haven't tried it yet because I think there is too much going on right now to try something new. We're doing the diet and then perhaps will add something that was mild for him like nystatin and see what happens. A lot of the natural stuff looks appealing as well. That's why I was thinking of the garlic. You do have to be careful who mixes the drugs or it might be worse on them. We have them specially compounded so they don't have sweetners in them. I should check on the preservatives. , mom to Cameron 3.10 ASD and Peyton 20 months

Guest guest
Lalitha, we haven't been on SCD long enough to answer personally (six weeks). From what I've read some say yes. Others it seem still need antifungals at least for a while. Someone whose been on the diet longer may want to respond.

Guest guest
yep both boys have developed a regressive fear of loud noise and certain textures fians been licking all things shiny again im giving kai eyedrops to try and cope with the eye rolling - side effect of the preservatives - big black eyes - but im not actually seeing much die off from either boy - certainly not as much as the first time we used amp - both a little emotional but thats it im certainly looking at GSE and oregano oil - nystatin only kills the weaker strains of candida and bearing in mind that there is 40 of them - i think its time to get tough!! kind regards emma > Emma, > We've been on SCD only 6 weeks. Please see http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/bifidus.htm I had bifidum overgrowth on the diet and became really sick.
