Guest guest
Hi a It's the Medisense Optium. You buy it in the chemist - it costs about £15 and is easily available as diabetics use it to measure blood glucose. You then need to get the blood ketone strips on prescription on a regular basis. Make sure that both your GP and the chemist understand that it's the blood ketone electrodes you need, not the blood glucose electrodes. A word of warning, they are expensive! £26 per box of 8 strips. My GP has agreed to one per day, but I originally wanted 2 per day (before I realised hoooow expensive they are). I like to measure blood ketones each morning, as Francesca is still quite variable in the mornings, which I do not understand! I wrote an explanation of how to use them, how to get blood from a child etc (!), which is on the 's Friends website. Go into the member's forum, Living with Epilepsy, Practical Advice, Measuring ketones and there it is. If you have any more questions, shout! Take care , Mum to Francesca, Keto Kid since Sept 03, drug free since May 04, who coped very well at a barbecue tonight with her sausage and barbecued mushrooms (with coconut oil, garlic and thyme) and didn't sneak a thing off the buffet table - hurray! (Rearranged all the dried flower displays, but there we are...) > Hi everyone > > I was wondering if any of you guys out there could recommend a blood > ketone monitor?
