Guest guest
Faith, I'd call and talk to your Case Worker and see if they can tell you anything. Chances are they can't though, because of the Medicare being a Federal thing.....but, at least its a try. the only other thing you could do is to Call your SS office instead of going down to it.......and maybe then you can get answers. Call during the MIDDLE of the Month!!! If you try calling at the end or beginning of the Month, that is when the office is the busist times because that is when everyone is calling and complaining about their checks or asking questions about the amounts of their checks. But, the Middle of the month is slow. Good luck Tonia -------Original Message------- Thank you everyone for the info, but I'm still confused. Let me rephrase the question if you don't mind. I live in PA. I have state medical aid (medicaid). Now SS is saying that starting Nov they will be taking money out for medicare. Do I have to take the medicare? And if I do have to take it, can I also keep the state medicaid? I did not get hurt at work or in an accident, so I have no WC or insurance worker to deal with. I got hurt at home. Twisted my ankle in my driveway. I cannot afford the price for the medicare. I can hardly survive on what I get from SS as it is. Do I have to accept it or can I turn it down? I've been trying to get through to my local SS office, but they are the only ones for 4 counties and are extremely busy. Takes forever to get through to them. Should I maybe call my case worker at the welfare office and see what they can tell me? I'm at a lose and have no idea what to do. It's bad enough that I still get no meds for this crap and that my current drs stink, I really don't need this on top of everything else. HELP!!!! Guest guest
Bev, Thanks for the info. I get SSD and SSI and also state medicaid. Now SS is saying that I have to have medicare at $66.60 a month starting in Nov. I'm just trying to find out if I really HAVE to have the medicare. With the state medicaid, I don't really need the federal medicare and I really can't AFFORD to have it. I have been unsuccessful so far in getting a hold of anyone from SS or the welfare office to find out. I'm not even sure if they are giving me part A or part B or both. I have no idea what's going on!! Thanks again. Gentle hugs, FaithFAITH, I DON'T KNOW WHETHER YOU GOT AN ANSW 4 YOUR ? ABT MEDICARE I >HAVE MEDICARE & HAD MEDICAID AT 1 TIME.
