Guest guest
Here's the deal guys...any help would be appreciated: I went back to the derm on Tuesday. I started Tetracy and took it for 2 days. My redness and flushing were much worse but face cleared up quite a bit. I have noticed some red tiny veins(I know there's a term for these...sorry). I teach second grade and experienced extreme fatigue as the week went on. I read on the 'net that one indicator of lupus was the " butterfly patch " on the face and can be brought on by use of tetracyclin(it really said sulfa antibiotic) I freaked out internally. I had the shingles in Novem, ber after stress of husbands passing. This isnt my usual m.o. I have been a healthy, vital 36 year old with a zest for life. But after the shingles and then the rosacea diagnoses I just knew that was what it was. I do not go to the doc often, but did on Friday and he did a blood check to see if there are any infections in my body. The nornmal range for women are 0-20. Mine was 7. So,maybe its hormones. Has anyone heard of this blood test? Anyway, has anyone had this experience with Tetra? I know this is long but I need help.
Guest guest
I'm not sure about the muscle fatigue, but I'm convinced Tetracycline pretty much guarantees a red face at some point. I was on Tetracycline for several years in the '80s before my derm (at my request) prescribed Accutane. My skin is now overly sensitive to direct sunlight, years later. > Tetracylin and redness: Muscle fatigue > > Here's the deal guys...any help would be appreciated: > I went back to the derm on Tuesday. Guest guest
Jacky, If my memory serves, I was on tetracycline from 13 years old to 17 years old, with little effect on my acne. My face remained pink, though, like I had constant sunburn. I haven't taken it for 15 years, and I remain photosensitive. > Re: Tetracylin and redness: Muscle fatigue > > Hi , > > Read your post with interest - how long exactly were you taking > Oxytetracycline, and what dosage? Guest guest
I'm talking about a full-blown flushing/burning reaction. I recall going to lunch with a co-worker about a year ago, with the cover off his Jeep. When I returned from lunch, I got comments about how red I was. Total exposure too and from lunch was under 20 minutes. > Re: Tetracylin and redness: Muscle fatigue > > Hi , > > Wow - the doctors never tell you of any of this when they give you that > stuff.
